Celebrating 40 Years of Community at the Kawanote Arakawa Festival
On April 29, 2023, the vibrant Kawanote Arakawa Festival took place at the Minami-Senju Baseball Stadium, marking its 40th anniversary. This annual event, organized by the Kawanote Arakawa Festival Executive Committee, comprised of local associations and various organizations, continues to stand as the largest festival in the Arakawa District, Tokyo.
A highlight of this year’s festival was the simultaneous hosting of the 47th Commercial Festival by the Arakawa District Commerce Association, featuring over 90 booths showcasing local crafts, food, and attractions. Each year, the festival fosters a lively atmosphere, bridging the gap between communities and showcasing various product offerings from Arakawa's sister cities. This year's “Hometown Market” section featured 22 guest cities presenting their renowned local specialties, ensuring a delightful experience for all ages. Additionally, the festival honored its 40th milestone with a drawing event where attendees could win products from the participating cities, along with engaging stage shows that entertained the crowds. Furthermore, children received commemorative wet tissues featuring the festival mascots, Arabo and Arami.
