Digital Hollywood University to Screen 'SAKAI: Promised Land'

Digital Hollywood University, renowned for cultivating talent in IT and digital content, is set to host a special screening of the film 'SAKAI: Promised Land' on May 19, 2025, at 6:30 PM. This event, taking place at the Surugadai Campus in Ochanomizu, Tokyo, is directed by the university's alum, Masakazu Yamaguchi.

On the day of the event, Yamaguchi will be joined by notable cast members including Shingo Horita, who plays the role of Matsunaga Hisahide, Ikko Aoyama as Saisaku, and Maki Akiyoshi portraying the heroine, Ayano. The screening aims to draw attention not only to the film's captivating storyline but also to the incredible talents nurtured at Digital Hollywood University.

About the Film 'SAKAI: Promised Land'

Set during Japan's Sengoku period, the film tells the gripping tale of Matsunaga Hisahide’s castle on the brink of downfall due to the Onin Wars. Amidst this chaos, the skilled ninja Saisaku is entrusted with a secret mission to deliver a legendary tea utensil, the Hirakumo, to Sakai, resuming a journey filled with peril as he escapes pursuers with the infant-nurturing Ayano.

The movie boasts an impressive cast, featuring talent such as Kon Ohmura, Akiyoshi, and Mizuno Jun. The script supervision is by Sohei Mayumi from Lepton Co., and the film is produced by Yamaguchi along with Shinsaku Tokumaru and Iwao Tabuchi.

In his comments, director Yamaguchi highlights the film's unique approach to exploring the untold stories of historical figures like Nagayoshi Miyoshi, Hisahide Matsunaga, and Tea Master Sen no Rikyuu, who were significant players during this tumultuous time in Japanese history. The narrative begins with the burning of Shigisan Castle by Nobunaga Oda, setting the stage for the characters' dreams and aspirations.
