Embracing the themes of traditional summer festivals, this gathering aims to reinterpret ancient rituals that ward off disasters in a contemporary artistic context. By utilizing the power of art, the festival endeavors to create a space where attendees can mourn and overcome the calamities of the modern world.

The 'seesaw vol.1 Summer Festival' will continue the momentum from last year's event held at the Tamagawa Riverbed, introducing 'See/saw vol.1,' a new ZINE. For those who wish to participate and provide their own ZINE for sale, please contact us via Instagram at @____see.saw____. Provide the following details:
  • - Artist Name
  • - ZINE Title
  • - Sale Price
(Note: There is no maximum price; however, a margin will apply to sales through the gallery.)

On the day of the festival, ZINEs can be brought directly to the venue for sale, with payment facilitated via PayPal or PayPay. Last-minute contributions are encouraged!

Participatory Artwork Display



Attendees are also invited to showcase their artworks at the festival, which adds to the participatory nature of the event. Artwork must meet the following criteria:
  • - Must be photographic work (as long as it is deemed photographic)
  • - Should not cause mess at the venue
  • - Must be capable of being transported on the same day and within a maximum size of 70cm (width and height combined)

About the Artist Collective 'seesaw'



The collective 'seesaw' is dedicated to creating a platform for young artists, trusting in the ability of photography to connect individuals with each other and the world around them. They focus on organizing exhibitions, producing ZINEs, and planning events that foster creativity.

Members include:
  • - Miyu Horie: Born in 1998, graduate from Nihon University College of Art and Tokyo Institute of Photography. An artist whose work reconstructs the relationship between time and tangible objects through installations and photography.
  • - Ooga Kobayashi: Born in 2002, graduate from Tokyo Institute of Photography. His work experiments with 3D software to create new mediums from images, exploring the illusion of objects in digital space.
  • - Rina Maeda: Born in 1997, graduate from Wako University. She contemplates the concepts of loss and reproduction in her photographic and installation works.
  • - Tete: Born in 1996, graduate from Tokyo Institute of Photography. An artist continually researching the two-dimensional nature of photography and its possibilities.

About COPYCENTER GALLERY



COPYCENTER GALLERY operates under the printing service PHOTOPRI, located near Shin-Itabashi Station in Tokyo. This alternative space originated from a former printing shop and is dedicated to transforming artworks into tangible forms. The gallery aims to serve as an open platform for emerging artists to actively reshape this boundary space through various practices and artistic expressions. Stay tuned for future activities!
