Jack and Jill of America Inc. Hosts the 2025 On the Hill Legislative Summit
Jack and Jill of America, Inc. has made a significant announcement regarding its upcoming major event. From September 19 to 22, 2025, the organization will host its 10th biennial "On the Hill" (OTH) Legislative Summit in Washington, D.C. This year’s summit carries the theme "Amplifying Our Voices," and is set to unite nearly 800 youth leaders from across the nation who are eager to engage in legislative advocacy, civic action, and leadership training opportunities.
As we witness a new generation of leaders stepping into the national spotlight, the role of youth initiatives in crafting a more just and equitable future cannot be understated. According to Darlene Whittington, the National President of Jack and Jill, "When our children step onto Capitol Hill, they are not visitors; they are the visionaries and future proprietors of our democracy. Jack and Jill takes immense pride in amplifying their voices, as we strongly believe that today’s advocates are tomorrow’s legislators, judges, and presidents. They are not future leaders but are leaders at this very moment."
The summit will empower youth to explore their personal voices, hone leadership skills, and confidently embrace their roles as change-makers. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of workshops, forums, and cultural activities focused on civic engagement and community impact.
Prominent projects on the summit's agenda include:
- - The "State of Black Families" forum, aimed at presenting insights and discussions surrounding the dynamics within Black families.
- - The "Teen Tycoon JNJ Tank" entrepreneurial competition, designed to showcase young entrepreneurial spirits by fostering innovative ideas.
- - The "Legacy Unveiled" chair reception, a gathering that honors the historical significance and achievements of past leaders and activists.
The summit will conclude with a major event named "Jack and Jill Takes Capitol Hill," where participants will meet with their respective legislators to advocate for various important issues.
Jack and Jill of America Inc. is proud to welcome hundreds of young leaders to Washington for the "On the Hill 2025" summit, which is not merely a celebration but a call to action. This platform empowers Black youth to fearlessly speak their truths while honoring the legacy of those who came before them and actively shaping their future.
These young leaders are not just expanding their sphere of influence; they are leading a movement rooted in mission, resilience, and an unwavering pursuit of justice. Founded in 1938, Jack and Jill of America Inc. aims to cultivate future leaders through carefully curated educational, cultural, civic, recreational, health, and social activities for children. With 271 chapters across the nation, the organization is one of the largest and most influential African American family organizations in the United States, connecting over 50,000 family members.
