Jury Comments on Awarded Entries
The competition judges were impressed by the heartfelt kindness evident in each entry, highlighting how students incorporated their everyday experiences into thoughtful expressions through both words and illustrations. While each artwork resonated with unique charm, the award-winning pieces stood out for their clear messages and emotional impact, invoking feelings of warmth, joy, and excitement.
This year, the competition saw a diverse range of creative expressions, transcending simple imagery to engage viewers on a deeper emotional level. Elements of written word also played an important role, with innovative approaches to integrating text into art that enhanced the overall message, demonstrating a strong synergy between visuals and words.
The expectation is that such reflections by the younger generation will contribute positively to enhancing public manners throughout the community.
Landscape Division Juror Insights
In the Scenery Division, jurors relished the chance to observe each piece up-close, appreciating every brushstroke, color overlap, and pencil texture that revealed the artist's journey and discoveries. The pure perspectives of the young artists served to inspire and provide insights for the adult observers, encouraging a reflective appreciation of their own daily surroundings.
The variety in expression between different grades highlighted how each student views the world uniquely and translates that perception to their artwork. Many honorable mentions also showcased remarkable creativity, with hopes that the joy of observation and expression will continue to flourish among students.
Exhibition of Winning Works
To provide broader access to these creative expressions, the winning artworks will be showcased across various Tokyo subway stations starting March 10. Other exhibitions include poster displays and inclusion in the 'Traffic Manners Book' published by the bureau, alongside the deployment of wrapped buses featuring the artworks to further promote public transport manners.
Additionally, there will be displays within the Tokyo Metropolitan Government building. All entries to the competition are viewable on the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation's official website.
