NEDHSA Hosts A Special Veterans Tribute Event in Monroe, Louisiana

The Northeast Delta Human Services Authority (NEDHSA) is gearing up to host an impactful event titled "Neighbors in Service: A Veterans Tribute" on Saturday, May 31, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The venue for this occasion will be the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum Pavilion, located at 701 Kansas Lane in Monroe, Louisiana. This event aims to connect veterans and their families with NEDHSA's extensive network of support services while raising community awareness regarding the unique challenges faced by veterans.

Dr. Monteic A. Sizer, the Executive Director of NEDHSA, emphasized the organization's commitment to serving veterans: "We want veterans and their family members to see our agency as partners and allies. We see your sacrifices, and we are here to help." The agency's goal is to strengthen partnerships with businesses, universities, nonprofit agencies, and various governmental systems to enhance the resources available to veterans residing in Louisiana's Delta.

NEDHSA's proactive initiative, titled "Operation Leave No Veteran Behind," focuses on increasing awareness and providing necessary support tailored to the challenges faced by veterans and their families across a 12-parish region. Notably, the agency has launched a Veterans Suicide Awareness campaign aimed at fostering community support and improving health outcomes for veterans.

Attendees of the tribute event can look forward to a day filled with engaging activities including live music, vendors, free food, and games. Katie Terrell, a special assistant to the executive director, remarked, "We will stand with veterans and offer services to combat the unique challenges they and their families face. Together, as a community, we can build a stronger Northeast Louisiana, where veterans play a crucial role."

Beyond immediate support services, Dr. Sizer reiterated NEDHSA's commitment to ensuring quality mental health care, addiction treatment, primary healthcare, and essential social support services such as housing, employment assistance, and food security. His message was clear: "No military veteran should ever be left abandoned, alone, suicidal, hungry, or homeless. They should have access to a robust safety net that meets their needs."

In summary, the "Neighbors in Service: A Veterans Tribute" event exemplifies NEDHSA's dedication to enhancing the lives of veterans and their families. The event serves not just as an opportunity for connection but as a critical platform for raising awareness about the many challenges facing the veteran community.

Particularly noteworthy is the agency's collaborative approach, emphasizing that societal well-being is deeply intertwined with the support of its veteran population. NEDHSA's initiatives prioritize veterans' needs and advocate for comprehensive resources to ensure that every veteran has a chance for a fulfilling life, post-service.

If you are in the Monroe area, this tribute represents a valuable chance to connect and honor those who have served, while also engaging with a network committed to their ongoing welfare. Mark your calendars and join us in celebrating our veterans!
