Daily Generative AI Users Report Increased Job Security and Productivity

In recent findings released by PwC, the 2025 Global Workforce Hopes and Fears Survey has shed light on the stark benefits experienced by daily users of generative AI. Conducted among nearly 50,000 workers across 48 economies, the survey reveals that those who utilize generative AI every day demonstrate substantial improvements in their professional lives, along with notable disparities compared to their occasional counterparts.

Key Findings

The study shows that a remarkable 92% of daily AI users reported increased productivity, contrasted with only 58% of infrequent users. Furthermore, 58% of daily users noted a boost in job security, compared to just 36% among less frequent users. Wage increases were also more common among routine users, with 52% indicating higher pay versus 32% of casual users. These statistics underscore the tangible advantages that consistent engagement with AI technology can yield in the workplace.

However, despite these benefits, the report highlights a concerning trend: only 14% of respondents utilized generative AI daily. About 54% indicated that they had engaged with AI at some point in their job throughout the past year. This suggests a significant opportunity for greater integration of AI tools within diverse industries and sectors.

The Skills Gap

The survey also addressed the critical gap in skill development among different employment levels. Notably, just 51% of non-executive workers felt they had adequate resources for learning and development. In stark contrast, 72% of senior executives reported having the necessary opportunities to enhance their skills, revealing a disparity in access to growth resources within organizations.

As companies rapidly adopt new technologies, the necessity for comprehensive skill development programs has never been more paramount. Those who actively utilize AI in their daily routines are more likely to benefit from professional growth, with 75% of them believing they have sufficient resources to excel in this area, compared to just 59% of occasional users.

Work Culture and Employee Well-being

The survey results also paint a picture of a workforce under pressure. Approximately 55% of the global workforce currently experiences financial strain, an increase from 52% in 2024. Moreover, 35% of respondents feel overwhelmed at work at least once a week, a troubling statistic, especially among Gen Z workers, where this sentiment climbs to 42%.

Despite some positive responses, stress levels remain high, and less than half (43%) of the surveyed workers received a raise in the past year. Only 17% were promoted, which may reflect a broader economic context that is becoming increasingly challenging.

However, the research hints at the possibilities that exist for companies willing to engage their teams meaningfully. Employees who align closely with their company's goals report feeling 78% more motivated than those with lesser alignment. This indicates that fostering a supportive culture can significantly enhance workplace morale and motivation.

The optimistic outlook for daily AI users—69% express confidence in their roles for the coming year, compared to just 44% of non-users—points to a positive future for technology adoption in the workplace. The potential benefits of generative AI can only be maximized if these advantages are extended beyond a select few who actively engage in its usage.
