Shinjuku Kotori Festival 2026: A Celebration of Birds
This summer, the highly anticipated
Shinjuku Kotori Festival returns to the
Keio Department Store in Shinjuku, Tokyo! From
July 30 to August 4, 2026, bird lovers and enthusiasts are invited to immerse themselves in a delightful array of events centered around our feathered friends. Hosted by
Kotori Cafe, which has made a name for itself with its popular concept of enjoying coffee while observing birds, this festival promises to be a vibrant gathering for people of all ages.
Exciting Features of the Festival
The 7th edition of the festival will showcase a diverse selection of
creative works and bird-themed products contributed by renowned artists and manufacturers from across the country. Attendees can participate in various engaging activities, including live demonstrations and ordering sessions throughout the event, providing ample opportunities to enjoy all that the festival has to offer.
Exploring the Artist Lineup
Among the exciting highlights is an exhibit by
Chiharu Sakazaki, featuring the theme
“Playing with Penguins and Birds.” Attendees will have the unique opportunity to view original works from the
Penguin Museum, free of charge. This exhibition will showcase an array of
art pieces, including silk screen prints and giclée prints. For art enthusiasts, exclusive merchandise related to the exhibit will be available for purchase, including postcards and apparel. Not to be missed is the limited-edition silk screen piece titled
“A Bird Visits the Penguin Apartment,” with only ____30 pieces available at a price of
16,500 yen each, limited to one per person.
Special Signing Event
In addition to the art exhibits, the festival will feature a special signing event with
Liz, the author of the book
“The Anatomy of Birds.” This signing session will take place on
August 1 from
11 AM to 4 PM, and the first 30 attendees will have the exclusive chance to get their books signed.
Tickets for the signing will be distributed at the
Aoi Kotori Workshop booth starting at
10 AM on the day of the event. For those interested, the
Anatomy of Birds will be available for advance purchase starting on the first day of the festival.
Don’t Miss the Shimajenaga Market
Located on the same 7th floor at the
Seasons Space, another exciting event, the
Shimajenaga Market, will run from
July 30 to August 12, 2026. The market promises to feature a plethora of bird-themed items and arts, ensuring every visitor finds something special to take home.
