Datamaran Welcomes Bert Sinnema as New Chief Technology Officer, Driving AI Innovations
Datamaran Appoints Bert Sinnema as Chief Technology Officer
On September 4, 2026, Datamaran, a leading provider of AI-driven risk and governance software, announced the appointment of Bert Sinnema as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Operating from the company’s Leeuwarden office in the Netherlands, Sinnema is set to take charge of the global engineering and product teams at Datamaran, including a significant engineering hub located in Valencia, Spain. This move comes as Datamaran aims to deepen its application of artificial intelligence (AI) across its platform, providing faster and more actionable insights for clients navigating evolving risks and regulatory landscapes.
"In his role as CTO, Bert will be pivotal in shaping the product vision, strategy, and overall technology roadmap for Datamaran," said Marjella Lecourt-Alma, CEO and co-founder of the company. With the risk landscape rapidly changing, Sinnema’s leadership is expected to accelerate AI-driven product development and enhance the platform's capabilities.
A Proven Track Record in Technology Leadership
Bert Sinnema brings over 12 years of extensive experience in product engineering, having honed his expertise within startups, scale-ups, and industry-leading platforms. Prior to joining Datamaran, he served as VP of Engineering at Eye Security, the fastest-growing cybersecurity firm in Europe. There, he successfully scaled the international engineering team and played a crucial role in helping the company achieve a significant €60 million Series C funding round.
Sinnema’s impressive background also includes a three-year tenure at HackerOne, a premier platform for ethical hacking and bug bounty programs, where he climbed the ranks to Director of Engineering. His career began as the founder and CTO of SmartLockr, a secure communications platform that he launched, expanded into three countries, and successfully navigated through Microsoft's Ventures Accelerator in Berlin.
A Vision for the Future
With Bert's appointment, the company is transitioning from traditional Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) issue management into a broader AI-driven governance platform. “Bert has a track record of building engineering organizations that excel in high-pressure environments,” noted CEO Marjella Lecourt-Alma. “His background as a founder gives him unique insights into how to adapt to changing markets.”
Sinnema expressed enthusiasm about the prospect of applying AI to complex risk management challenges, stating, “I enjoy tackling the hardest problems at the intersection of product engineering leadership and AI. Datamaran's goals align with my vision, and I’m eager to lead our engineering and product teams to ensure we continue to provide cutting-edge solutions as the market evolves.”
This appointment is not just about leadership; it signifies an important evolution for Datamaran as it continues to empower organizations in navigating the intricacies of risks and stakeholder expectations. As the tech landscape grows ever more complex, Sinnema’s expertise is expected to keep Datamaran at the forefront of innovation in AI and governance technologies.
Looking Ahead
As Datamaran embarks on this exciting new chapter, the collaboration between Bert Sinnema and the company's existing teams is predicted to boost the pace of product development significantly.
