According to a survey conducted by the American Association of Colleges and Universities (AACU), a staggering 94% of employers believe that universities should play a role in producing a capable workforce while also fostering informed citizens. Furthermore, 93% highlighted the significance of critical thinking skills in graduates.
Christine Muncy, APUS's Associate Vice President of Career Services, who co-chairs the Career and Life Skills Committee, underscored the importance of students not only grasping the content of their studies but also understanding how to apply their knowledge and articulate their growth thereafter. The committee, which comprises full-time and part-time faculty as well as operations staff, is dedicated to enhancing the overall student experience and ensuring that prospective employers find graduates equipped with the required competencies.
The committee's extensive research included resources from the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) and valuable insights from employers, highlighting the increasing demand for adaptable, analytical, and digitally proficient communicators. This work not only enriches individual programs but also propels APUS towards its broader goal known as the Global Digital Journey. This ongoing initiative is aimed at upgrading curriculum quality, modernizing how content is produced, and extending interactive, future-facing learning experiences.
