In a move set to enhance cooperation between China and Africa, SANY, a leading Chinese engineering manufacturer, has established a significant logistics platform in South Africa. Recently, a delegation from the Global South Media and Think Tank Forum visited SANY's central parts warehouse, gaining insights into how the company effectively utilizes this facility for fostering Sino-African collaboration.

The warehouse spans an impressive 11,487 square meters and is currently stocked with parts valued at approximately 300 million South African Rand (about 17.65 million USD), making it SANY's largest overseas facility. With six distinct operational zones, this warehouse has revolutionized the distribution of vehicle components, ensuring efficient movement from the reception of goods to cross-border delivery throughout Southern Africa.

One of the remarkable advancements at the warehouse is the comprehensive digitization of incoming and outgoing part management, utilizing QR code technology. This innovative approach has doubled the efficiency compared to traditional methods, drastically streamlining operational processes.

Thanks to partnerships with local logistics operators like EPX, SANY is now able to quickly deliver parts to nearby countries such as Zimbabwe and Botswana. EPX's overnight shipping services have particularly enhanced delivery speed, greatly benefitting customers in these regions.

Central to SANY's operations is their commitment to localization. This strategy aims to create a multi-level talent base in South Africa, where demand-driven capacity building replaces conventional training approaches. A core mission focuses on supplying practical talent in warehouse management, equipment maintenance, and logistical coordination for SANY's service points across Africa. The goal is to meet the critical demand for professionals equipped with technical skills and on-the-ground knowledge.

Further, SANY aims to cultivate specialists proficient in advanced engineering equipment and new energy technologies for African enterprises, thus promoting technological modernization within African industrial chains. A third essential mission is to provide vocational skills and employment opportunities for young Africans to combat high unemployment rates and address skill shortages.

Since entering the African market in 2002, SANY's journey has highlighted the importance of localization, ensuring that the benefits of Sino-African cooperation reach a wider array of individuals across the continent. With their industrial park set to inaugurate in South Africa by 2025, SANY remains dedicated to enhancing Sino-African ties and contributing to the continent’s sustainable development.
