Andrew Canales Steps into Role of Chief Revenue Officer at SkyFi

SkyFi, an innovative leader in Earth intelligence, has announced the recent appointment of Andrew Canales as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). Known for developing scalable geospatial platforms, SkyFi aims to enhance its global revenue strategies under Canales’s leadership, particularly focusing on government and enterprise markets.

In today’s rapidly evolving data-driven environment, geospatial intelligence has transformed into a vital asset for numerous businesses. By unifying location data with satellite and aerial imagery, companies are capable of deriving significant insights that aid strategic planning and improve operational efficiency. SkyFi's cutting-edge technologies place it at the forefront of this evolution, supported by a vast network of nearly 50 partners providing a diverse range of imagery types, including optical, Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), hyperspectral, and aerial data.

Canales brings with him an impressive background, covering almost two decades in geospatial and defense technology sales leadership. Before joining SkyFi, he held the position of Vice President of Business Development for the U.S. Government at Maxar Technologies. There, he was instrumental in driving go-to-market strategies with defense primes and emerging tech firms, all aimed at bolstering national security missions. His time at Maxar saw him leading enterprise sales and territory teams, facilitating growth across defense, civil, and commercial customer sectors throughout the Americas before advancing to Vice President of Global Enterprise Sales.

According to Luke Fischer, CEO of SkyFi, “Andrew's expertise in building revenue structures across government and commercial markets, along with his extensive knowledge in scaling technological solutions and establishing strategic partnerships, will be crucial as we refine our growth and extend our global presence.” He emphasized that this is an essential phase for SkyFi, with Canales’s influence being instrumental in assuring that Earth observation data remains accessible to U.S. Government assignments and international enterprise clients.

SkyFi's holistic approach to data and image intelligence spans various industries, from defense to energy, finance, and agriculture. By simplifying access to Earth observation data through its intuitive platform, SkyFi is redefining how businesses and individuals source and interpret satellite imagery. This newfound accessibility enables customers to make informed and rapid decisions without requiring specialized expertise, thus providing them a significant edge in today’s intricate global landscape.

“I am thrilled to join SkyFi and play a part in accelerating the company’s mission to democratize access to Earth observation data,” said Canales. He further stressed the increasing necessity of geospatial intelligence across all sectors of business in the ever-complex modern world. “SkyFi’s distinctive platform and expanding partner network position us well to meet this growing demand, and I am eager to contribute to the team driving our next growth phase.”

At both Maxar and DigitalGlobe, Canales consistently surpassed performance expectations, achieving multi-million-dollar contracts within various branches of the Department of Defense, major Fortune 500 companies, and governments abroad. Notably, he earned a place in the President's Club awards ten times and successfully launched key account programs with significant partners. He also developed strategic business cases that accelerated product launches, showcasing solutions like Raptor, Maxar's innovative vision-based navigation tool. Canales holds a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Colorado and completed a post-graduate program in Geographic Information Systems at the University of Denver, in addition to advanced studies through the Harvard Program on Negotiation.
