India to Welcome Global Space Leaders for Karman Week 2025 in Bangalore

India to Host Karman Week 2025

India has been chosen as the host nation for the Karman Week 2025, an event organized by the Karman Project which aims to advance peace and collaboration in space. Scheduled to take place in October 2025, this prestigious gathering will welcome 15 distinguished leaders from the global space community at Bangalore, one of the world’s most vibrant space and technology hubs.

The event will be spearheaded by SatSure, a prominent Earth Intelligence company founded by Prateep Basu, who previously participated as a Karman Fellow in 2020. His experience with the Karman Project motivated him to create the SatSure Sparta platform, which aims to simplify Earth observation data for smallholder farmers in India—illustrating his commitment to benefiting society through technological advancements.

Karman Week 2025 aims to foster strategic dialogues, cultural exchanges, and showcase innovations that arise from collaboration among leaders from various organizations. Participants will include representatives from Axiom Space, Airbus, and several space agencies from countries including Saudi Arabia, the UK, and Kenya.

Hannah Ashford, Managing Director of The Karman Project, stated, “India stands at the forefront of space exploration and is trailblazing solutions using space technologies to tackle pressing global issues, from agriculture to climate resilience.” This statement highlights India's role not just as a space pioneer, but also as a critical player in addressing real-world challenges through innovative applications of space technology.

Bangalore is recognized as the Indian metropolis that hosts the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and is home to a burgeoning startup ecosystem. Karman Week will leverage the city’s reputation to spotlight India's advancements in public-private partnerships and climate-centric space innovations. Attendees can look forward to specific interactions with India's space sector, curated cultural experiences, and a leadership retreat focused on nature—all designed to build trust and cooperation across international boundaries.

This gathering marks a significant inflection point for India’s ambitious space endeavors in 2025. Earlier milestones include the 100th launch from India’s main spaceport, the Global Conference on Space Exploration in New Delhi, and a successful docking maneuver between two satellites—an achievement held by only three other countries. Additionally, ISRO astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla made history by becoming the first Indian to visit the International Space Station on a groundbreaking mission.

In light of the collaboration between the Karman Project and SatSure, this event symbolizes India's commitment to facilitating international partnerships and furthering ISRO's legacy of peaceful space utilization.

Karman Week, which has previously occurred in various nations such as the UAE, France, and Bulgaria, is designed to ensure deepened cooperation among influential space stakeholders and is an invitation-only event, closed to the public. More information and details regarding the program will be unveiled later in the year.
