Royal Canadian Mint's Opulence Collection Returns
The Royal Canadian Mint (RCM) has unveiled its luxurious
Opulence Collection, showcasing an extraordinary array of precious metal coins that blend the exquisite world of fine jewelry with numismatic artistry. The collection is notably enhanced with stunning yellow diamonds from the famed
Ekati Diamond Mine located in Canada’s Northwest Territories.
Highlights of the Collection
This year's edition includes two remarkable pieces:
Brilliance, a 10-ounce pure platinum coin, and
Radiance, a 1-ounce pure gold coin. Each piece features enchanting Canadian yellow fancy diamonds — among the rarest gemstones in existence. Crafted meticulously by
Crossworks Manufacturing Ltd. based in Vancouver, these exclusive collectibles are now available for purchase.
Marie Lemay, President and CEO of the Royal Canadian Mint, expressed her pride in the collection, stating, "The Opulence Collection is a testament to our commitment to innovation and excellence in coin production. The incorporation of exceptional yellow diamonds creates visually stunning collector’s items, celebrating Canada’s rich mineral wealth."
Collaboration with Burgundy Diamond Mines
The Mint has partnered with
Burgundy Diamond Mines for this collection. Jeremy King, CEO of Burgundy, highlighted the significance of Canadian diamonds, noting their responsible sourcing and ancient origins. He stated, "The incorporation of Ekati’s fancy yellow diamonds into these coins transforms them into unique, precious collectibles with a truly Canadian essence."
Artistic Design
The
2025 Platinum Coin - Brilliance is limited to just 10 pieces worldwide. It showcases a vivid depiction of Canada’s national flower, the
lily (Lilium canadense), beautifully enhanced with a selective gold plating and adorned with 14 fancy yellow diamonds — seven pear-shaped diamonds create the heart of the larger lily, surrounded by eight intricately designed elements representing various growth stages.
On the other hand, the
2025 Gold Coin - Radiance features a design from Canadian artist Simon Ng. The coin surrounds a central gem-bearing lily created with six marquise-cut yellow diamonds that frame a round brilliant white diamond at its center. Its design draws inspiration from a sunbeam motif, with four sun-shaped floral elements decorated with round white diamonds etched around its edge. This exquisite gold piece is limited to only 30 specimens.
Both coins bear the effigy of His Majesty King Charles III, crafted by Canadian artist Steven Rosati. To showcase these remarkable collectibles, they are presented in luxurious matte black wooden cases, designed by Canadian manufacturer
Manubois.
Origins of the Diamonds
The fancy yellow diamonds central to the Opulence Collection originate from the
Ekati Mine, noted as Canada’s first open-pit and underground diamond mine, operated by Burgundy. Over its 27 years of operation, Ekati has become renowned for producing high-quality white diamonds ethically, while yellow diamonds, including the exceptionally rare fancy kinds, form a small fraction of its total output.
