In a significant partnership, the Association for Talent Development (ATD) has teamed up with renowned AI expert Josh Cavalier to offer a new and innovative educational opportunity for talent development professionals. This collaboration aims to address the growing need for AI proficiency in the realm of learning and development (L&D).

The New Program: Applying AI in Learning and Development Certificate

The centerpiece of this initiative is the Applying AI in Learning and Development Certificate, a three-day program meticulously designed to empower talent development (TD) professionals. This course is set to explore the intersection of AI with learning experience design, allowing practitioners to effectively integrate generative AI into their design and delivery methodologies.

This program is especially timely as professionals across the globe strive to improve their skill sets in an ever-evolving digital landscape. Cavalier's expertise in the field, along with his forthcoming book, Applying AI in Learning and Development From Platforms to Performance (scheduled for release in November 2025), will provide invaluable insights and practical frameworks for attendees.

Learning Outcomes and Structure

During the course, participants will engage with Cavalier’s LD AI Ecosystem framework, a roadmap intended to assist TD professionals in seamlessly incorporating AI into their everyday workflows. The curriculum is crafted to ensure a hands-on learning experience, enhancing the practical application of AI tools and techniques in real-world scenarios.

Cavalier, who brings over 30 years of experience in the learning and development sector, emphasized the necessity for professionals to adapt to new technologies. He expressed his enthusiasm about this collaboration, stating, “I’m excited to partner with ATD’s world-class Education team to help the global community of professionals skill up in this critical area.”

ATD President and CEO Tony Bingham echoed Cavalier’s sentiments, highlighting, “This is a critical time for professionals in our field to learn how to harness the power of AI. The TD field has an unprecedented opportunity to transform how people learn, enhancing efficiency and performance across their organizations.”

Course Schedule and Registration Information

The Applying AI in Learning and Development Certificate program will be offered four times throughout 2025, with the inaugural course scheduled for October 20-22 at the ATD Learning Center in Alexandria, Virginia. Each registrant will also receive a hard copy of Cavalier's new book, which aligns with the course material to further enhance the learning journey.

Due to anticipated high demand, seating is limited, and advance registration is mandatory. Future program offerings are already being planned for 2026, ensuring continued access to this essential training.
