Transforming Ideas into Reality: The 3Days Design Championship 2025
The Open House Group, recognized for its innovative approach in architecture and construction, has unveiled the call for participants in the upcoming "3Days DESIGN CHAMPIONSHIP 2025". This internship program is specifically designed for students who are scheduled to graduate in March 2027 from universities or specialized institutions specializing in fields like architecture, design, civil engineering, and the built environment.
Celebrating its 12th year, the Design Championship offers a unique opportunity for aspiring architects to put their theoretical knowledge into practical applications. Unlike typical internships, this program emphasizes real-world experience through a competitive format where teams will design actual houses that will be constructed and sold by Open House Development, a subsidiary of the Open House Group.
Key Features of the Internship
What sets the 3Days Design Championship apart from other internships is that the winning team's architectural proposal will not only receive praise but will also be brought to life. Open House Development commits to building and selling the winning designs, which adds an invaluable layer of motivation and responsibility for the participants.
Over the years, the program has attracted considerable interest, with more than 1,532 participants having competed. Students receive hands-on experience alongside seasoned professionals from the construction department who provide critical feedback and mentorship, ensuring participants can refine their projects to meet industry standards.
Program Details
Students selected through a preliminary screening will divide into teams to undertake the challenge of designing a new residential building on real plots in Tokyo. The creative process is entirely up to the participants; they can brainstorm design themes and plans freely. Throughout the development phase, they will receive valuable insights and feedback from experienced professionals, helping them translate their ideas into detailed plans, diagrams, and models.
Each team's work will culminate in an official presentation day where designs will be shared, and the top designs will be chosen to progress to the GRAND FINAL, scheduled for mid-October. The ultimate winner will have their project actualized by Open House Development, in addition to receiving a monetary reward of ¥500,000.

The internship unfolds across several sessions:
- - 3Days Internship (Preliminary Round): July 28-30, August 4-6, August 18-20, August 25-27, September 1-3, September 8-10, September 15-17
