Join the 29th Hino Shinsengumi Festival Parade!
The Hino Shinsengumi Festival is just around the corner! In preparation for the festival, we are currently seeking elementary and middle school students from the Hino area to participate in the exciting Taishi Parade, a key highlight of the event. Your participation will greatly enhance the festival atmosphere, so don’t miss this chance to be a part of a unique cultural celebration!
Event Dates
The festival is scheduled for May 9 and May 10, 2026. Mark your calendars for an amazing weekend filled with events!
Main Events:
- - May 9: Taishi Contest at the Nanae Public Hall
- - May 10: Various events along the Koshu Kaido and in the Hino-juku area, including the Taishi Parade.
Participants Wanted for the Taishi Parade - Kasuga Squad
We are inviting elementary school students to participate in the Kasuga Squad, where you will dress in period costumes and walk in the Taishi Parade. This is a fantastic opportunity for 5th and 6th graders from local schools to showcase their spirit and immerse themselves in the history of the Shinsengumi! The details are as follows:
Eligibility:
- - Current 5th and 6th graders in Hino City (who will be 5th or 6th graders in April 2026).
Schedule:
- - Date: May 10 (Sunday)
- - Time: 2:30 PM
Location:
- - The parade will take place around the Koshu Kaido in Hino-juku, with a gathering point at the Hino City Forest Fureai Hall.
Capacity:
- - We have room for 60 participants!
Cost:
- - The participation cost is free!
Application Period and Method
- - Applications are currently being accepted until April 15!

Participate as Ichimura Tetsunosuke or Koyou Chinpudai!
In addition to the Kasuga Squad, we are also looking for middle school students to assume the roles of Ichimura Tetsunosuke, a page to Hijikata Toshizo, and members of the Koyou Chinpudai, which was reformed during the Shinsengumi's order to stabilize Koshū. This is a wonderful opportunity for middle school students from all schools in Hino City to dive deeper into the stories of these historical characters!
Eligibility:
- - All middle school students in Hino City.
Schedule:
- - Date: May 10 (Sunday)
- - Time: 2:30 PM
Location:
- - The same as above at Koshu Kaido in Hino-juku, gathering at Hino City Forest Fureai Hall.
Capacity:
- - Enrollment is limited to 20 participants (1 for Ichimura Tetsunosuke and 19 for Koyou Chinpudai members).
Cost:
- - Like the Kasuga Parade, this opportunity is also free!
