The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has been hosting the annual Tokyo Metropolitan Art Exhibition for Persons with Disabilities since 1986. This initiative aims to enrich the lives of individuals with disabilities by promoting their participation in artistic and cultural activities. Furthermore, it seeks to uncover and nurture exceptional talents, thereby enhancing the understanding and awareness of the general public towards disabilities.

The upcoming 41st exhibition, scheduled from August 12 to August 16, 2024, will feature an impressive collection of approximately 200 selected works from artists with disabilities residing in Tokyo. The exhibition celebrates a range of artistic forms, including painting, calligraphy, photography, and sculpture, creating an engaging experience for all attendees. Visitors from previous years have expressed their enthusiasm, stating, “The variety is remarkable, and I enjoyed observing the artworks” and “I look forward to this event every year.”
