Upcoming Kyushu and Okinawa Art Showcase with Guest Artist Yuken Teruya

An Exciting New Art Showcase in Roppongi

The Chain Museum, headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, is set to host an intriguing exhibition at their unique venue, "Paichu," which combines dining with an art gallery. From March 6 to March 21, 2026, the gallery will feature "SHOWCASE vol.3: Kyushu / Okinawa by ArtSticker." This exhibition aims to spotlight creative talents hailing from the Kyushu and Okinawa regions, encouraging local artists to submit their work for consideration.

Call for Entries

Beginning December 18, 2025, and running until February 8, 2026, The Chain Museum is inviting artists based in the Kyushu / Okinawa area, as well as those originally from the region, to enter their work into this acclaimed showcase. The first round of judging will conclude on January 18, 2026, and all interested artists are urged to apply promptly to avoid missing this opportunity.

A distinctive feature of this exhibition will be the participation of the esteemed guest artist, Yuken Teruya, known for his innovative approaches and thought-provoking work. Born in Okinawa in 1973, Teruya's artistic journey took him from the New York School of Visual Arts to exhibitions worldwide, including notable venues in Berlin and London. By utilizing everyday materials such as paper bags, he challenges societal values and perceptions through his art. His contributions to the exhibition will further enrich the visitor experience, emphasizing the connection between local and international art narratives.

The Heart of the Exhibition

The primary vision behind "SHOWCASE by ArtSticker" is to create a space that is easily accessible, allowing casual encounters with art. Since its inception, this initiative has aimed to shine a light on emerging talents, by organizing exhibitions that not only allow for public entries but also highlight regional artists in various showcases across Japan.

As online interactions with art have flourished, opportunities for face-to-face engagement between local artists and audiences have been scarce. This exhibition in Roppongi aspires to serve as a hub that bridges the traditional art world with fresh, local talent from Kyushu and Okinawa, aspiring to foster surprising new connections that transcend geographical barriers.

How to Apply

Artists from the designated areas—Fukuoka, Saga, Nagasaki, Oita, Kumamoto, Miyazaki, Kagoshima, and Okinawa—are eligible to submit. There are no age, nationality, or professional experience restrictions, allowing both professionals and amateurs to share their creativity. Submissions can be made either individually or in groups (with a designated representative). All applications must be registered online, and there is no entry fee or exhibition cost (though selected artists must cover transportation fees for their works).

Application Deadlines

  • - First Round (Portfolio Review): By January 18, 2026. Artists must complete their registration on ArtSticker to participate in this round.
