Experience Harmony of Hearing and Body through Communication Yoga
In a groundbreaking event, GN Hearing Japan, a subsidiary of the renowned Danish hearing aid manufacturer GN, held a unique program titled "Communication Yoga" on August 29, 2025, at Yoga studio totti, located in Koto, Tokyo. The event aimed to provide participants with an opportunity to experience the perfect blend of hearing comfort and physical well-being through a special program organized by the hearing aid brand ReSound, known for its pursuit of "organic hearing". This program was designed around the latest AI hearing aid, ReSound Bevi™, and intended to help mature women participants align their minds and bodies while enjoying seamless conversations.
The Importance of Hearing and Communication
A survey conducted by GN Hearing Japan in February 2025 revealed some compelling statistics regarding the relationship between hearing and communication. Among 500 men and women aged 60 and above who acknowledged their hearing difficulties, approximately 88% expressed a desire for smoother communication. Furthermore, around 77% believed that alleviating concerns about hearing would help build better relationships with those around them. This yoga event was a response to these insights, emphasizing how enhancing hearing can support social interactions and overall mental and physical health.
During the event, Eriko Suzuki, the communication manager at GN Hearing Japan, shared vital information centered around hearing. She explained that while hearing ability gradually declines starting in the 30s, many individuals remain unaware of this change until family members notice it first. Age-related hearing loss not only makes sounds harder to perceive but also increases instances of misunderstanding speech, potentially hindering effective communication. Suzuki highlighted that while hearing aids do not provide immediate results, acclimatizing to these devices and training the brain can take approximately three months, likening it to rehabilitation.
"With a history of 150 years, GN has always sought to connect people and facilitate communication. Our values align beautifully with those of Yoga studio totti, which prompted this innovative Communication Yoga event," she concluded.
Instructor Rie Yamazaki from Yoga studio totti emphasized the essence of yoga as "connecting"—connecting with one's true self, which embodies love and happiness. Through experiences during the pandemic, she recognized that hearing difficulties greatly obstruct our connections with others and create significant stress. She affirmed that just as yoga realigns the mind and body, enhancing one’s hearing also establishes a solid foundation for enriching relationships and communication.
A New Communication Experience Through Yoga and Hearing
During the event, participants experienced personalized fitting sessions. Attendees donned the state-of-the-art ReSound Bevi™ hearing aids, tailored to optimize volume and balance according to their hearing conditions. This innovative device leverages AI to differentiate between noise and conversation, delivering natural and clear audio even in noisy environments. Participants expressed that the instructor's voice and conversations amongst attendees were more audible, allowing them to focus better on their poses and breathing during the yoga session.
Additionally, interactive communication between the instructor and participants encouraged the emergence of natural conversations. Wearers of hearing aids reported feeling more at ease. Many participants shared sentiments such as, "I hardly noticed the hearing aid; it felt so natural that I forgot I was wearing it," and, "Thanks to the hearing aid, I was able to hear the instructor’s voice much clearer, enabling me to concentrate on my poses." Others expressed that being free from the stress of hearing loss allowed them to fully appreciate the core purpose of yoga: achieving happiness.
