Celebrating Five Years of Art and Creativity at Yokumoku Museum

Celebrating Five Years at Yokumoku Museum

Yokumoku Museum, located at 6-15-1 Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo, is excited to announce that it will celebrate its fifth anniversary on October 25, 2025, coinciding with the ongoing exhibition titled "Pablo Picasso: The Art of Ceramics - 'Mitate'". To express gratitude for five years of visits and support, the museum will host a special campaign from October 18 to November 3, 2025. This campaign is aimed at rewarding both visitors and social media followers.

The museum's founder, Norikazu Fujinawa, believed that sweets are not merely manufactured but are created from the heart. This philosophy has been carried forward by the museum's first director, Toshikazu Fujinawa, who has envisioned a space where the vibrant and free expression of Picasso is showcased through ceramic art. Since its inauguration on Picasso's birthday, October 25, 2020, the museum has become a place for surprises and discoveries, even through the challenging times of the pandemic. It has now reached its fifth exhibition cycle centered on Picasso's ceramic works, with its popular art sessions now having exceeded 400 sessions in total.

Exhibition Overview: "Pablo Picasso: The Art of Ceramics - 'Mitate'"

This ongoing exhibition, which runs until December 28, 2025, explores Picasso's experimentation with the repurposing of shapes through his sculptural and ceramic works, interpreted through the Japanese cultural lens of "mitate". The exhibition highlights how Picasso creatively sees the form of existing vases as birds or circular plates resembling bullfighting rings. By reevaluating these methods as metaphors in humor, it reveals glimpses into Picasso's creative process in ceramic production. Online ticket purchases come with a discount of 200 yen and allow the accumulation of Rakuten points.
