What is 'Asobi de Eikaiwa'?
Under the initiative of Rox3Gaming, the 'Asobi de Eikaiwa' program utilizes online games as a fun method for children to practice their English conversation skills. This enriching environment not only enhances language abilities but also makes learning enjoyable and engaging. Two native English instructors as well as Japanese teachers enrich the learning experience, leading classes online and connecting students from all over Japan.
With a group size of 4 to 5 students per class, each session involves teamwork and collaboration to learn through gaming. Students connect their tablets displaying the texts while engaging in online gameplay, fostering both skills and camaraderie.
Unique Teaching Resources
Textbooks are specifically designed for each gaming activity, ensuring a smooth educational experience. Students will participate in projects like recreating their own communities within the game to foster regional pride and collaboration while improving their English proficiency and interpersonal communication skills.
The Vision of Rox3Gaming
Founded in 2021, Rox3Gaming is known for its presence in competitive fighting games like Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8. The team not only comprises skilled players from their local area in Mie Prefecture but also features a variety of talented instructors, including active VTubers, bringing diverse insights and engagement to the learning process.
Supporting Vulnerable Families
Having begun its support initiatives in December 2021, Rox3Gaming has helped numerous children access this online school for free, covering tuition fees, and providing gaming consoles and headsets to ease barriers. The organization hopes to support families who struggle with transportation and costs associated with extracurricular activities.
Since launching, many children have benefited from this unique program, with 11 students from the first phase starting in April 2022 and an additional 16 in the second phase as of April 2023.
Community Engagement
In addition to hosting the 'Dream Project,' Rox3Gaming engages with local schools to discuss healthy gaming practices. They also conduct workshops for parents and educators to broaden their understanding of digital learning methodologies.
