Cox Enterprises Expands Support for STEAM Education Through Matching Donations to Teachers

Cox Enterprises and DonorsChoose Join Forces to Support STEAM Education

In a heartwarming initiative, Cox Enterprises celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week (May 5-9) by announcing a partnership with DonorsChoose.org. The company will match up to $100,000 in donations aimed at supporting STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) education in classrooms across the United States. This program allows contributors to amplify their impact, doubling every dollar donated to projects aimed at enhancing education in public schools that require funding for innovative classroom experiences.

This year’s endeavor builds on the success of a similar campaign held last year, through which Cox also offered matching contributions. By providing a twofold match on contributions for engineering and technology classroom projects, Cox Enterprises aims to foster creativity and innovate learning experiences for students deeply engaged in STEAM fields.

Jennifer Bronner, the Director of Community Impact at Cox Enterprises, emphasized the importance of investing in educational initiatives. "Investing in education is one of the most powerful ways we can shape a better future," she stated. "Our continued partnership with DonorsChoose enables us to provide teachers in under-resourced schools with essential tools and experiences that ignite curiosity and creativity in the classroom."

The matching funds are particularly beneficial for teachers with projects previously unfunded on DonorsChoose, aligning with Cox’s 34 by 34 social impact goal, which aims to empower 34 million individuals to lead more prosperous lives by 2034. Since the launch of this initiative in 2020, it has positively affected over 11.6 million people by enhancing access to technology, promoting employment skills, and enabling lifelong education.

In 2024, Cox Enterprises empowered nearly 3 million individuals, showcasing the company’s commitment to enhancing educational outcomes. The previous DonorsChoose campaign funded more than 500 classroom projects, benefiting over 6,200 students, showcasing the transformative power of collective contributions towards educational betterment.

Adam Disler, Senior Vice President of Partnerships at DonorsChoose, shared, "Cox's generosity allows us to reach even more teachers who are doing remarkable work with limited resources. This matching campaign ensures that more students have the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning and build the critical skills needed for their future careers."

As part of this year’s initiative, donations will specifically target classrooms where a majority of students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch, thus amplifying their access to quality education resources.
