A Journey Into Mexican Culture: Los Sabores De Mi México
In June 2025, the Mexican soft drink brand Jarritos will proudly host the much-anticipated third edition of
Los Sabores de Mi México at the
Mexican Cultural Institute in Washington, D.C. This cultural extravaganza promises to be a feast for the senses, showcasing the rich flavors and vibrant traditions of Mexico from
June 12 to June 21. Operating hours are Monday through Friday from
10:00 AM to
6:00 PM and Saturdays from
12:00 PM to
6:00 PM.
The event is a heartfelt tribute to the influential Mexican artist
Frida Kahlo and her family's culinary heritage. Visitors will be greeted by a stunning replica of the Kahlo family home's kitchen, where culinary art intertwines with rich history. Attendees will have a chance to explore a meticulously crafted space that reflects not only the artistry of Frida Kahlo but also her passion for traditional Mexican cooking.
A Culinary Journey with Family Recipes
One of the major highlights of
Los Sabores de Mi México will be the unveiling of an exclusive book filled with cherished family recipes. Chef
Mónica Patiño, who emphasizes the significance of these recipes, states, "This book connects us to the woman, to the family. It brings to life the everyday meals enjoyed in Frida's home, including her handwritten recipes. Frida's connection to traditional Mexican cooking is a vital thread that remains vibrant today."
Alongside the book launch, the exhibition will feature rare photographs capturing the intimate moments of the Kahlo family, allowing visitors to step into their world through the lens of art.
Mara Romeo Kahlo, Frida’s great-niece, will share her family's story, stating, "We believe that the kitchen is the heart of a home, and our aim is to present Frida’s life in a simple, engaging manner through gastronomy and art."
A Celebration of Artistic Expressions
To further enrich the experience, the exhibition will showcase ten spectacular sculptures of
Frida, each uniquely reimagined by talented contemporary Mexican artists. This artistic tribute celebrates Frida Kahlo's enduring influence and her significant contributions to the art world.
Families are encouraged to engage with creativity at the
"Paint Your Frida" workshops, where attendees can paint miniature replicas of the iconic sculptures, providing an interactive experience for all ages. This hands-on activity will complement the exhibition’s artistic objectives, allowing families to forge lasting memories through creativity.
Los Sabores de Mi México serves not only as a cultural and culinary celebration but also as an unprecedented homage to Frida Kahlo’s legacy. Through various events, exhibitions, and culinary experiences across major U.S. cities, the initiative aims to honor and sustain Mexican heritage, culture, and gastronomy.
A Culinary Line-Up to Remember
Among the prominent chefs participating in this vibrant event will be
Marcelino Zamudio from
Chicatana Restaurant,
Alam Méndez from
Apapacho Restaurant, and
Chabela Coss, Executive Chef of
Grupo Pascual. These culinary experts will create dishes inspired by Kahlo’s family recipes, presenting attendees with an unforgettable taste of traditional Mexican cuisine.
In addition to the culinary delights, the exhibition will include a live artistic performance by
Marisela Rumberg, a self-taught Mexican artist whose captivating works have garnered international attention.
