Furthermore, he pointed to the alarming statistic that approximately 41% of individuals who develop aspiration pneumonia or around 34% of those with femoral neck fractures experience swallowing difficulties, leading to a reality where many lose their ability to eat. Dr. Goto highlighted that this issue is prevalent and can affect nearly anyone.

It was also noted that about 30% of seniors over 65 struggle with chewing, and nearly 70% of those undergoing home care suffer from malnutrition.
