This unique opportunity offers both regular admission and special LIMITED TICKETS that provide priority access along with exclusive novelty merchandise.
PSYCHOSIS: A Bold Theatre Company in Japan
PSYCHOSIS distinguished itself immediately after its establishment with the debut performance of "Dugra Magra," which was met with overwhelming demand, leading to an early sell-out of additional shows. Post the success of their first production, the group delved into numerous experimental narratives such as "TSUYAMA30," depicting the infamous Tsuyama massacre, and "HOKUSAI And The Dr.Caligari," featuring the iconic artist Hokusai facing off against the Nazis. Each of these productions showcases PSYCHOSIS's commitment to avant-garde storytelling and a bold exploration of themes sourced from literature and history.
In significant recognition of its artistic ventures, PSYCHOSIS was also selected for a special developmental project for emerging theatre companies, performing Shuji Terayama's "Blind Man's Letter: Shanghai Edition" in July 2025, achieving full house for all performances that followed closely after. PSYCHOSIS has firmly embedded itself within Japan's contemporary theatre scene and continues to gather a dedicated following among younger audiences.
Artistic Collaboration and Production Team
Renowned manga artist Kenta Ueno is responsible for the flyer artwork for this production, working in tandem with the director Rika Morinaga. Their previous collaborations, such as the ambitious projects "Plague Chronicles" and "Blind Man's Letter," have garnered critical applause, including a first-place award for the flyer of "Plague Chronicles" at the 2023 Ochirashi-san Awards.
The cast features notable talents returning since the original performance, which exemplifies the artistic growth and continuity within PSYCHOSIS. The story follows a protagonist who, after waking in a mental asylum, struggles to salvage fragmented memories influenced by his surroundings and the enigmatic figure named “Koiichiro.” Seasoned actor Kaoru Kunisaka and emerging star Akihiro Soda will alternate in portraying key characters throughout the show. The haunting essence of the score is provided by EURO (SPEED-iD) and J.A. Caesar, well-regarded names within the gothic rock scene, enhancing the production's energy and atmospheric depth.
What to Expect
The adaptation promises a vivid portrayal of twisted narratives, entwining themes of memory, madness, and the blurred lines between reality and dreams, a hallmark of Yume's original work. The story intricately weaves the protagonist's gradual descent into despair as he grapples with the complexities of human psyche and the mysteries surrounding a murder case tied to his past.
Tickets will be available through Confetti from October 13, 2025, with a special offering for students aimed at making the arts accessible to all. Notably, the LIMITED TICKET option introduces an exclusive experience featuring priority entry, a unique T-shirt designed using Ueno's artwork, and an early bird ordering deadline of November 13. Furthermore, a student discount ticket is available, promoting inclusivity within the theatre community.
With themes deeply rooted in the underground spirit and an overarching narrative that invites audiences to confront the darker aspects of existence, PSYCHOSIS continues to dazzle with its innovative stage designs and artistic integrity. Under the direction of Rika Morinaga, who has established a vibrant identity through personalized design, music, and performance, the production stands as a testament to the group’s vision and enduring influence in the contemporary Japanese theatre scene.
