Activate Launches First Entertainment Venue in Berlin, Germany

Activate's Grand Arrival in Germany

In a significant expansion of its innovative entertainment offerings, Activate has unveiled its first venue in Berlin, marking the entry of this popular North American brand into the German-speaking market. This venture is the result of a successful collaboration with VRex Entertainment and Sounds Fun Entertainment, two notable local players in the entertainment industry.

The newly opened location at Mall of Berlin spans an impressive 938 square meters, featuring 11 game rooms and over 800 challenge levels designed to captivate guests. With this endeavor, Activate aims to redefine entertainment norms by blending cutting-edge technology with engaging real-world action games.

The new venue utilizes RFID technology to track players throughout the gaming area, enabling them to progress to new levels, unlock achievements, and earn Next Level Rewards. Each room is designed to provide dynamic challenges that engage and test the participants' speed, coordination, and problem-solving skills. The format encourages teamwork, tailored for groups of two to five individuals, making it perfect for families, groups of friends, or corporate teams seeking fun, physical, and stimulating entertainment that emphasizes cooperative achievements.

Christian Ebster, co-founder of VRex Entertainment, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, "Germany has a strong culture of group entertainment, and Activate offers something completely new—fun that requires movement, thinking, and competition". He elaborated that the unique format is expected to appeal broadly to the entertainment-seeking population in the region.

Jeremiah Sizemore from Sounds Fun Entertainment noted that there was a tangible opportunity to introduce Activate to Germany, emphasizing the importance of understanding both the format and the local market. He mentioned that partnering with VRex to bring this project to fruition was gratifying due to their local expertise and enthusiasm to create something special in the entertainment landscape.

The Activate format, originally designed and developed in Canada, merges elements of gaming, amusement, and social gathering to create a fresh interactive experience. Adam Schmidt, co-founder and CEO of Activate, remarked, "Our goal was to incorporate elements of play, skill challenges, and community engagement. Given Germany's rich gaming culture, we are eager to see how players here will explore and enjoy Activate."

The Berlin location is just the beginning of Activate’s ambitious plans for the German-speaking region. Another venue is set to open in Fürth at Next Level Funpark, featuring 12 game rooms, proving the growing demand for interactive entertainment. Moreover, plans are underway for a new center in the Lili Mall in Wiesbaden in November, with a Vienna location expected to follow in spring 2027. The company also has intentions to expand into Switzerland soon.

Activate invites everyone to step into their world of challenges, requiring sharp reflexes, quick thinking, and cooperative skills. Players can immerse themselves in tasks designed for each room or engage in competition with others, making it easy to start but challenging to win.
