Exciting Summer Kids Day at POLA Cultural Institute's Makeup Gallery
The POLA Cultural Institute's Makeup Gallery, located in Minato, Tokyo, is offering a fantastic opportunity for families this summer. This event, designed for children, is
free to enter and does not require any reservations, allowing families to participate spontaneously! The gallery is currently hosting the exhibition
"European Attire", showcasing a rich collection of historical makeup tools and related literature.
During the Kids Day event, children can dive into a variety of activities such as
dress coloring,
spot the difference games, and
fan and uchiwa (Japanese hand-held fans) making workshops. A standout feature of the event is the popular digital face-fitting app,
"BEAUTY TRIP", where kids can explore the cultural facets of makeup and attire while having fun.
Activities and Workshops
In relation to the ongoing
"European Attire" exhibition, a workshop focusing on
folding fans is available. Children will have the chance to engage in creative activities that can captivate their attention for hours. The
"Beauty Trip" app lets kids experience the evolution of beauty standards across different cultures and eras through selected beauty icons from Ukiyo-e and fashion prints.
Using their own photos, they can apply unique makeup filters that transform their appearance to resemble their chosen beauty icon! The results are visible in real-time, making it an exciting experience to participate in face fitting, whether alone or with family.
Family-Friendly Experience
Parents and children alike are invited to challenge themselves with various face-fitting options, tapping into the creativity and imagination of youth. Witnessing your child’s joy as they experiment with different designs and improve their sticker skills can be truly rewarding. This is not just a fun outing, but also a chance for learning and bonding as families explore the cultural significance of makeup together.
