Mori Trust Collaborates with Miyagi Agriculture High School
An Innovative Collaboration
Mori Trust Co., Ltd. is set to showcase a unique collaboration at the Sendai Trust City with Miyagi Prefectural Agricultural High School and the Westin Hotel Sendai. This partnership aims to develop and sell baked goods using ingredients cultivated by high school students. The products will be featured at the "Bakery and Sweets Marche 2026" on June 5th and 6th.
Background and Objectives
This initiative is part of the area's management activities within Sendai Trust City. Mori Trust has been actively engaging with the local community by organizing events in collaboration with regional businesses, participating in local summer festivals, and supporting recovery efforts from the Great East Japan Earthquake. The goal is to create opportunities for students to apply what they learn in school to real-world situations, utilizing the company’s resources and networks.
The Baking Project
As part of this project, students from Miyagi Agriculture High School will utilize their specially raised eggs, known as “Hyapparyouran,” to produce baked goods. The collaboration with the Westin Hotel Sendai involves hands-on learning, where students will participate in the product design and promotional materials. The two featured products include:
1.
Crispy, Chewy French Toast – Priced at 350 yen (including tax), with 50 units available each day. This dish combines the rich flavor of eggs with locally sourced Miyagi wheat, creating a perfect blend of a crunchy outer layer and a soft, moist interior.
2.
Light Brioche Bites – Priced at 280 yen (including tax), sold in sets of three, with 50 sets available each day. This brioche emphasizes simplicity and sweetness, delivering a delightful taste that pairs well with any meal.
Both products will be available at the Westin Hotel Sendai booth during the event, where students will also be present to sell their creations.
Students' Perspectives
Students from the agricultural department expressed their excitement about having their home-raised eggs turned into sellable products. They hope that this project will foster awareness about local ingredients and contribute to regional food sustainability.
Chef's Insight
Chef Okamoto from Westin Hotel Sendai shared his thoughts on the use of Heyapparyouran eggs, highlighting how their richness contributes to a beautiful bake and a distinct egg flavor in the finished products. The collaboration has been a meaningful way to showcase the students' hard work in the bakery.
