Housing Works to Celebrate Two Decades of Design on a Dime Benefit with Exclusive Charity Event

Housing Works Marks 20 Years of Design on a Dime

Housing Works, a distinguished non-profit organization, will commemorate the 20th anniversary of its annual Design on a Dime (DOAD) benefit, a prominent fundraising event dedicated to combating HIV/AIDS and homelessness. The celebration will take place from April 23 to April 26, 2025, at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City, bringing together an elite group of interior designers and home decor brands.

Since its inception, Design on a Dime has garnered attention for its unique approach that combines philanthropy with the world of interior design. This year’s event promises to be an extraordinary showcase, featuring curated vignettes designed by some of the industry's most talented professionals. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore an impressive array of luxury furnishings, home decor, and art, all at significantly discounted prices. Over its 20-year history, the event has raised an astounding $24 million to support critical services provided by Housing Works.

The festivities will kick off on April 23 with a gala dinner and awards presentation, celebrating trailblazers within the design community who have made significant contributions over the years. The event will officially open for shopping on April 24, starting with a VIP Preview where ticket holders can enjoy early access to the lovingly curated collections. Public sale days, open to all, will follow on April 25 and 26.

DOAD is spearheaded by James “Ford” Huniford, its Founding Chair, along with a group of co-chairs, including renowned designers like Alessandra Branca, Rayman Boozer, and Jamie Drake. Each co-chair brings their design expertise to the table, ensuring that the event remains a highlight in the NYC design calendar.

One of the unique features of this year’s event is the Brunschwig & Fils Bazaar, which will unveil the whimsical side of luxury home decor through five creatively designed rooms crafted by a selection of innovative designers. This special installation promises to enchant attendees and celebrate the extravagant spirit of the Brunschwig & Fils brand.

Among the talented designers participating this year are leading names such as Antonio DeLoatch, Danielle Colding, Ghislaine Viñas, and many others who are committed to making a difference through their art and design expertise. Each vignette at the event showcases carefully selected pieces donated by designers, stores, and galleries, all aimed at raising funds for the essential work of Housing Works.

James Huniford reflects poignantly on the journey of DOAD, stating, “Twenty years ago, this initiative began as a small gathering of compassionate designers at Housing Works, and it has transformed into a major event that unites our community around a common cause.” His appreciation for the ongoing support of the design community underscores the collaborative spirit that has fueled the success of Design on a Dime.

With premier sponsors like Brunschwig & Fils and Benjamin Moore, and with support from signature sponsor Bloomingdale's, the upcoming Design on a Dime looks set to draw in supporters from both the design community and the general public, furthering Housing Works’ mission to provide vital services for those affected by HIV/AIDS and homelessness.
