Adam Berger Development Shines at 2026 World of Modular Awards for Innovative Housing

Adam Berger Development Wins at 2026 World of Modular Awards

In a remarkable achievement, Adam Berger Development LLC has garnered top honors at the 2026 World of Modular Awards for its exceptional project, West Holden Place. This innovative modular workforce housing community, located in Denver's Sun Valley neighborhood, was recognized in the prestigious Permanent Modular Multifamily Over 10,000 Square Feet category during the Awards of Distinction presented by the Modular Building Institute (MBI).

West Holden Place stood out among 24 international nominees, showcasing its significance as a benchmark for modular multifamily housing. Highlighting the importance of this accolade, Adam Berger, the Principal of Adam Berger Development, stated, "This award is especially meaningful because of the level of international competition. West Holden Place was designed to prove that modular construction can be a practical and scalable solution for delivering much-needed attainable housing in our communities."

With the MBI at the helm of advancing the modular construction industry through advocacy and education, the recognition of West Holden Place solidifies its position as an exemplary model for future developments. The success of the project reflects a decade of refinement in modular development by Adam Berger Development, spanning various multifamily projects and modular duplex and townhome developments across Metro Denver.

Located in the vibrant city of Denver, West Holden Place features 77 units distributed over six stories and has achieved LEED Gold certification. This noteworthy development is committed to providing high-quality housing for middle-income residents in a transit-oriented location, constituting one of the largest modular multifamily projects within the city.

Importantly, 40% of the units at West Holden Place come with deed restrictions, ensuring affordability for families at 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI). This model generates vital housing opportunities for middle-income individuals without relying on Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC).

The project showcases remarkable efficiency in construction, employing a five-over-one podium design. The installation of 50 modules was completed within just seven days, illustrating how well-coordinated design, factory completion, and field logistics can significantly enhance project timelines.

Maria De Cambra, Executive Director of the Colorado Department of Local Affairs, expressed her support, stating, "Modular is a critical option for building affordable housing in Colorado, and Adam Berger Development is a leader in our state in utilizing modular construction to develop affordable housing faster and at a lower cost. I’m so pleased that they are being recognized on the national stage for their important work here."

The project thrived due to the collaboration among key partners, including Nashua Builders, ProSet Set Services, Avodah Group, and the City of Denver. Thomas Bryan, executive director and CEO of the Colorado Housing Finance Authority (CHFA), congratulated the firm on its achievement, noting the innovative financing models employed through CHFA's Middle-income Access Program to support the construction of this valuable housing project.

Looking ahead, Adam Berger Development aims to expand the role of modular construction in addressing Colorado's housing challenges. Upcoming projects include Teller Place in Olde Town Arvada and Cherokee Place in Englewood, among others, all developed in partnership with the State of Colorado's Public-Private Partnership (P3) Collaboration Unit.
