Silver Dollar City Unveils Miner's Mountain Express
Silver Dollar City, the renowned theme park nestled in the Ozark Mountains, has announced an exciting addition to its lineup:
Miner's Mountain Express, a brand new family coaster set to debut in
Spring 2027. This thrilling ride is not just an amusement attraction; it is deeply rooted in the rich lore and history of the Ozarks, providing both entertainment and educational value for guests of all ages.
A Journey Inspired by History
The Miner's Mountain Express will take riders on a three-minute and eighteen-second journey through a landscape that tells the story of the Marble Cave Mining Company, an actual operation that ran in the 1880s. Visitors will feel the rush of adventure as they ride on runaway mine cars navigating perilous turns and dodging boulders, all while on a quest to find the fabled entrance to
Marvel Cave. This cave, which today stands as a natural landmark, was initially named Marble Cave before miners discovered that it contained no marble—just another fascinating tidbit in the city’s history.
Investment in the Future
This new coaster is part of a larger
$150 million investment into Silver Dollar City’s future, which also includes the opening of the Silver Dollar City Resort in 2027. President of Silver Dollar City Company,
Brad Thomas, stated, "For over 65 years, Silver Dollar City has entertained our guests through fun, story-based adventures. This family coaster has been designed so that multiple generations of families can enjoy the mountain-themed adventure together."
Adding to the park's appeal, the new ride will feature a minimum height requirement of just
39 inches when accompanied by an adult, ensuring that even the youngest family members can partake in the excitement.
Features of the Ride
The Miner's Mountain Express promises
15 airtime moments, making it not only the longest family coaster in the Midwest, but also the ultimate family thrill experience. Guests will climb two towering lift hills, providing breathtaking views of the Ozark scenery before plunging back down. The ride will be rich with theming that reflects the authentic mining culture of the region, featuring weathered structures, rugged rock formations, and genuine mining equipment.
A Story of Perseverance
At the heart of the Miner's Mountain Express is the character of
Jedidiah "Jed" Campbell, a legendary mining foreman. His motto, "Where there's a will, there's a way,” encapsulates the spirit of those who built the Ozarks. As families embark on this adventure, they will discover that it is not just luck but perseverance that leads to great rewards. This theme resonates throughout Silver Dollar City, where the park’s origins are closely tied to the history of Marvel Cave.
Collaboration & Construction
The ride is a product of collaboration between Silver Dollar City and
MACK Rides, a renowned manufacturer known for their award-winning theme park attractions. Silver Dollar City’s own construction and design teams have also played a significant role in creating an immersive experience filled with storytelling and historical accuracy.
As guests enter the newly formed area of
Daredevil Pass, they will first encounter a stunning
15-story working headframe sourced from a real Missouri mine, setting the stage for their expedition into the world of mining lore.
A Bright Future
Silver Dollar City’s unveiling of the Miner's Mountain Express marks a significant step in the park's ongoing evolution, promising to enhance its status as one of America’s favorite theme parks. As families continue to flock to the Ozarks for vacations and outdoor adventures, Silver Dollar City aims to welcome even more guests by sharing the captivating stories of the Ozarks' heritage.
In summary, the Miner's Mountain Express is more than just an amusement park ride; it’s a celebration of family, history, and the pioneering spirit of the Ozarks. It stands poised to be a thrilling way for families to engage with the past while enjoying an exhilarating present.
