Introducing the Technics SL-1210MKX
In a significant leap forward for professional DJ equipment, Technics has unveiled its latest model, the SL-1210MKX. This direct-drive DJ turntable, positioned as the flagship of the renowned SL-1200 Series, promises to enhance the performance of DJs in demanding environments like nightclubs and large festivals.
A Legacy of Excellence
The SL-1200 Series has long been associated with quality and reliability, having built a reputation through over five decades of exceptional performance in various settings. The SL-1210MKX takes this legacy further, incorporating insights from professional DJs and sound engineers. According to Stefanie Baron, Manager of Technics DJ Channel Europe at Panasonic Consumer Europe (PCEU), this model addresses the very challenges DJs face while performing under pressure, ensuring stability, precision, and creative freedom.
Engineered for Performance
What sets the SL-1210MKX apart is its robust design, which includes a significantly heavier chassis for enhanced resistance to external vibrations. This is particularly crucial when DJs are working in bass-heavy environments, where equipment can suffer from acoustic feedback. In addition, the newly designed isolation feet allow for confident scratching and performance without compromising sound quality.
Precision Control for DJs
For the first time in the SL-1200 Series, the SL-1210MKX comes equipped with a dedicated ±4% pitch range. This allows DJs to make finer adjustments, enabling better beatmatching and subtle tempo corrections, especially when working with tracks that are closely matched in BPM. Besides the standard pitch settings, users can also choose a new ±50% range, significantly expanding the creative mixing possibilities.
Technics has also refined the turntable's user interface with a quieter reset switch and continues to use its proven coreless direct-drive motor, allowing adjustable start-up torque and brake speeds. Additionally, features like 78 RPM playback and reverse functionality open up new avenues for creativity.
Designed for Today's DJs
The SL-1210MKX is aimed at a wide range of professional DJs, including those who tour, play in clubs, and specialize in live performances and scratching. The turntable is not only intended for personal use but is also tailored to meet the technical requirements of rental companies and music venues that house DJ installations. By adhering to the expectations of leading artists, the SL-1210MKX positions itself as a central piece of modern DJing equipment.
Honoring 55 Years of Innovation
With the introduction of the SL-1210MKX, Technics also celebrates 55 years of innovation since the original SL-1200 hit the market in 1972. The turntable quickly became a cornerstone of DJ culture, fueling the evolution of genres like disco, hip-hop, house, and techno. The latest model not only honors the rich history of the series but also sets a new standard for future generations of DJs.
Unveiling at Amsterdam Dance Event
The public unveiling of the SL-1210MKX occurred at the Amsterdam Dance Event on October 21, 2026. Following this, customers can expect to find it in select retailers starting January 2027, with suggested retail prices of €1,499 or GBP £1,299.
