Armand de Brignac's Latest Creation: The Blanc de Noirs Assemblage No. 5
After a decade of meticulous craftsmanship, Armand de Brignac proudly presents its boldest creation yet, the Blanc de Noirs Assemblage No. 5 (A5). Handled by MHD Moët Hennessy Diageo in Tokyo, this exceptional cuvée is crafted entirely from Pinot Noir grapes, marking a significant evolution since the introduction of its predecessor, the Blanc de Noirs Assemblage No. 1 in 2015.
The A5 cuvée epitomizes strength, depth, and rarity — qualities that firmly establish it as the flagship of the Armand de Brignac brand. The wine composition centers on premier and grand cru Pinot Noir sourced from some of the best vineyards in the Champagne region, particularly from Montagne de Reims, including the renowned areas of Cumières, Verzy, and Verzenay. Additionally, it incorporates grapes from the Aube region to enhance its distinct red fruit aromas.
This luxurious blend features three different vintages: 2014 (10%), 2015 (20%), and the majority from 2016 (70%). Each bottle undergoes an artisan process that results in a reveal after seven years of aging on the lees, culminating in a disgorgement date of August 21, 2024. Only 8,165 bottles will be available worldwide, each individually numbered and dated. The exquisite black-lacquered wooden gift box further enhances the high-end appeal of this Champagne.
Voices from the Brand Leaders
Jasmine Allen, the President and CEO of Armand de Brignac, expressed pride in the A5 launch, stating, “This is not just a new cuvée but a culmination of 10 years of craftsmanship. We are honored to deliver the artistry of Armand de Brignac to gourmets across the globe.”
Sean Jay-Z Carter, the founder of Armand de Brignac, emphasized the brand's commitment to excellence, noting, “Pursuing the highest quality and flavor, we have built this brand from the ground up. A5 represents Champagne produced without compromise, with each bottle telling the story of Armand de Brignac.”
Tasting Notes
The taste profile begins with notes of dried fruits and roasted nuts, leading to an array of black fruit aromas including plum, cassis, and exotic fruits such as mango, papaya, and kiwi. The influence of ocean air and a slight iodized taste bring about minerality, enhanced by layers of pastry cream, honey, orange blossom, and toasted coffee nuances. On the palate, the candy-like essence of dark fruits intertwines with the acidity of pink grapefruit, while the warm notes of bergamot and amaretti provide depth. The finish features vibrant cherry and a refined minerality, ending with a delightful and lingering aftertaste.
Perfect Pairings
The A5 pairs beautifully with a variety of exquisite dishes, including the delicate umami of caviar and foie gras, light Japanese cuisine, grilled red meats and seafood, or aged cheeses like Comté and Parmigiano. Each pairing enhances the expressive nature of this exceptional Champagne.
