BBYO International Convention 2026: Empowering Jewish Teens Towards Civic Leadership

BBYO International Convention 2026

The BBYO International Convention (IC) is set to take place in Philadelphia from February 13 to 16, 2026, gathering nearly 3,400 Jewish teen leaders from 52 countries. This event marks the largest annual assembly of Jewish youth leaders in the world, dedicated to nurturing a new wave of democratic engagement and global Jewish life. Notably, more than 900 adult guests, including speakers, educators, and activists, will also be present, making this a pivotal occasion for dialogue and growth among young leaders.

The theme for this year's convention, "We The Future," resonates profoundly with Philadelphia's historical significance as the birthplace of American democracy. The convention aims to empower youth to step into roles of leadership with courage and purpose, instilling a commitment to civic involvement and pluralism. Over the course of four days, participants will engage actively in discussions and activities designed to expand their understanding of democracy and leadership.

Participants can anticipate a variety of enriching experiences, including Shabbat celebrations and community service projects. Major topics slated for discussion encompass pressing issues such as antisemitism, Israel’s future in the Middle East, climate change, media literacy, and the ethical implications of artificial intelligence.

The event will kick off with a keynote address by Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, who will emphasize the importance of youth leadership and civic engagement in today’s tumultuous global landscape. Through an exciting agenda, attendees will hear from an array of influential speakers, including Danny and Zach Guarino, Zach King, and Rebel Wilson, making this convention not only informative but also inspirational.

Adding to the convention's depth, 480 delegates representing BBYO's international chapters will participate, alongside newcomers from Peru, Hong Kong, and South Korea. Prior to the event, these teens took part in the Global Ambassadors Week, focusing on leadership and cultural exchange, which prepared them for the multifaceted experiences awaiting them at IC 2026.

As part of the program, attendees will have the chance to join various initiatives such as the Leadership Labs, interactive workshops that foster essential skills for future community leaders. Noteworthy opportunities include the AZAA/BBGG Sports Tournament, the IC Film Festival showcasing Jewish creativity, and the creation of podcasts that provide a platform for young voices. A highlight will be the Jewish Learning Lab, intended to deepen understanding of the connections between Jewish values and democratic principles.

Moreover, attendees can participate in philanthropic efforts through the Stand UP Cause, supporting disadvantaged children, demonstrating BBYO's commitment to social responsibility. Through collaboration with local organizations, BBYO aims to inspire a generation that not only leads but gives back to their community.

This year's convention promises to be a landmark event where Jewish youth can voice their ideas and shape the future of their movement. As noted by BBYO's CEO, Matt Grossman, "'We The Future' is a rallying cry for young leaders at a time when democratic values are under scrutiny worldwide. It allows Jewish teens to showcase their commitment to unity and civic engagement."

The palpable energy surrounding IC 2026 will be complemented by opportunities for attendees to explore Philadelphia's rich cultural landscape through sightseeing tours and exclusive musical performances, which will enhance their overall experience.

In summation, BBYO’s International Convention 2026 is more than just a gathering; it is an empowering movement aimed at inspiring Jewish teens to emerge as future leaders committed to democracy and civic life. Through collaboration, learning, and celebration, this convention will equip the next generation with the tools they need to navigate and influence an ever-changing world effectively.
