CITY Furniture Hosts 4th Annual Green Summit Focusing on Sustainability Innovations

CITY Furniture and the Quest for Sustainability at the 4th Annual Green Summit

On July 23, 2025, CITY Furniture hosted its fourth Annual Green Summit at its headquarters in Tamarac, Florida. The event gathered a diverse array of participants, including community leaders, sustainability enthusiasts, and representatives from major brands. Focusing on practical environmental solutions for South Florida, the summit aimed to inspire meaningful discussions and actions.

During the summit, attendees engaged in interactive sessions that emphasized waste reduction, resilience, and renewable energy. One of the standout features of the event was the hands-on learning experience that allowed participants to collaborate with Habitat for Humanity to build kits designed to enhance community resilience. Additionally, reports from experts at Waste Management provided valuable insights into the future of recycling.

Among the highlights was a compelling keynote address by Guillermo Santa Cruz, President of Homestead-Miami Speedway, who articulated NASCAR's vision for a greener future. The audience was also privileged to join guided discussions led by Silva Garrigo from the University of Miami Herbert Business School. These dialogues encouraged participants to evaluate their environmental impact and explore collaborative pathways moving forward.

The summit also included a behind-the-scenes tour of CITY's award-winning fleet, showcasing their commitment to eco-friendly practices. The event also spotlighted various eco-conscious vendors and partners, such as Avocado Mattress and Bedgear, who presented innovative sustainable product solutions.

Andrew Koenig, CEO of CITY Furniture, reaffirmed the company's dedication to environmental improvements and clean energy strategies. "As we expand operations across Florida, our 2040 Green Promise remains the core of our mission," stated Koenig. He also highlighted how CITY Furniture's participation in FPL's SolarTogether program enables the company to procure more than 70% of its energy from solar sources. This significant commitment underlines CITY's intent to enlarge its positive environmental impact as business operations grow.

Moreover, CITY Furniture is also enhancing access to sustainable transportation, having installed numerous EV charging stations across its showrooms in Florida. Koenig noted, "Clean energy is integral to our daily operations. We hope to empower other companies to take action, illustrating that clean energy is not merely a competitive race but a collective movement where everyone has a role to play."

Recognizing the efforts of sustainability champions, CITY Furniture awarded notable leaders for their contributions to environmental practices. Florida Power & Light was named the Sustainable Vendor of the Year, while Waste Management received the Sustainable Excellence Award for its commitment to community leadership. Monica Cepero was honored as CITY's Municipal Leader in Sustainable Practices.

The annual Green Summit encapsulates CITY Furniture’s belief in the power of partnerships to drive sustainability forward. By bringing together local businesses, community organizations, and national brands, CITY Furniture continues to foster collaboration and leadership efforts crucial for a greener, more sustainable future.
