Unveiling a New Sports and Entertainment Experience in Nagoya with Dragon Quest Walk

A Unique Fusion of Sports, Entertainment, and Tourism in Nagoya

Nagoya city is taking a groundbreaking step towards an interactive experience that intertwines sports, entertainment, and tourism. This initiative involves a collaboration between the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins, the Tourism Promotion Division of the Nagoya Cultural Exchange Bureau, and Aichi International Arena, which operates the IG Arena. Set for April 18 and 19, 2026, the 'Dragon Quest Walking (Chubu)' event will invite participants to explore the historic Nagoya Castle and the surrounding area while engaging in a real-world walking experience themed around the popular mobile RPG, Dragon Quest Walk.

The Essence of the Collaboration

This partnership is a pioneering effort under the 'Nagoya Castle Area Revitalization Co-Creation Basic Plan,' established by the city in September 2025. It marks the first public-private collaboration in this scope, aiming to cultivate and showcase the area's cultural, historical, and sporting values. The event will not only promote walking but also stimulate local tourism, allowing visitors to engage deeply with the heritage of Nagoya Castle, and enjoy the vibrant city atmosphere.

Exploring the Dragon Quest Walking Event

Participants will embark on an adventurous journey across six designated spots around Nagoya Castle and the IG Arena during the 'Dragon Quest Walking' event. By visiting these spots, they will unlock special in-game titles, adding a competitive and fun element to the walking experience. The event is themed around the iconic 'Loto Series,' introducing unique spots reminiscent of the series, creating a magical connection between the game and the cityscape.

To enhance the experience, the event coincides with a collaboration game between the Nagoya Diamond Dolphins and the Shiga Lakes at IG Arena. This 'Dragon Quest Walk Collaboration Match' promises to be an exciting culmination of sports and gaming fandom, appealing to both basketball enthusiasts and RPG fans alike.
