Forbes JAPAN NEW SALES OF THE YEAR 2026 Awards Highlights the Innovative Sales Models

On June 8, 2023, the prestigious ceremony for the "Forbes JAPAN NEW SALES OF THE YEAR 2026" was held at the Grand Hyatt Tokyo. This event, co-hosted by Forbes JAPAN and KnowledgeWork, aimed to recognize companies that exemplify innovative sales models in today’s dynamic business landscape. The core mission behind this award is encapsulated in the phrase "LIFE WITH ENABLEMENT," embodying the joy of capability and the potential for achievement in the workplace.

The grand prize was awarded to Itochu Corporation, a company celebrated for its transformative approach to sales within large enterprises. Not only did the event spotlight Itochu, but it also acknowledged four division winners—each representing unique aspects of sales innovation:

1. Sales Innovation Award: Itochu Corporation
2. Knowledge-Driven Award: NEC Corporation
3. Next AI Award: Freee Co., Ltd.
4. Value Shift Award: Ricoh Japan Co., Ltd.

The awards were designed to highlight companies with over 1,000 employees that implement contemporary sales strategies known as "NEW SALES." The emphasis is on showcasing the potential of sales transformation and driving greater efficacy in this critical business function. Although there were other finalists who did not receive awards, they were recognized as exemplary practitioners of the NEW SALES approach, demonstrating the evolving characteristics of successful sales teams.

During the ceremony, representatives from each awarded company presented insights into the challenges and successes they faced while driving sales transformation. This sharing of experiences fosters a rich dialogue that extends beyond industry lines, stimulating broader reflections on how sales transformation can serve as a catalyst for growth and innovation across various sectors.

The event featured presentations from Koji Asano, the CEO and CPO of KnowledgeWork, who introduced the foundations of NEW SALES, along with Hazumu Yamazaki, the company’s CAIO. Their discourse underscored the importance of adopting modern sales paradigms to ensure organizational success and sustainability.

Moreover, past award recipients shared their thoughts with the new honorees. Their messages emphasized the ongoing evolution in sales practices and the expectations for emerging organizations that can effectively adapt to the market changes. Participants left with a renewed sense of purpose and a toolkit of innovative strategies to implement in their organizations.

The coverage of the awardees and their initiatives will feature prominently in the August issue of Forbes JAPAN, set to release on June 25. This issue will dive into how each company is reshaping its sales practices and the notable progress they’ve made towards achieving their business goals through unique case studies.
