Century Lithium's Update on the Angel Island Lithium Project
Century Lithium Corp., based in Vancouver, has announced a significant milestone in the permitting process for its wholly-owned Angel Island Lithium Project located in Nevada. As the demand for lithium continues to grow, driven by the electric vehicle boom, the company is focused on ensuring a sustainable and efficient production process.
On April 22nd, 2026, the firm submitted a Draft Mine Plan of Operations (Draft PoO) to the U.S. Bureau of Land Management (BLM), marking a vital step forward in the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) permitting process. This submission initiates a collaborative review between Century Lithium, the BLM, and a third-party contractor to develop a comprehensive plan that adheres to environmental regulations while enabling efficient monitoring and production.
President and CEO Bill Willoughby highlighted the significance of this submission, stating, "It initiates a coordinated review among the Company, the BLM, and our partners to ensure the necessary information is included in the final PoO, representing the proposed action for NEPA analysis."
Moving forward, Century Lithium anticipates receiving initial comments from the BLM within the next month, which will assist in finalizing the PoO. Angel Island holds a prominent position as a Transparency Project under the Federal Permitting Council's FAST-41 program, a designation that underscores the project's potential impact and commitment to transparency during the permitting process.
In addition to federal permitting efforts, the company is also working on state and local approvals in tandem with pre-construction planning and detailed engineering. The 2026 Feasibility Study has outlined essential workstreams that aim to define the project's supporting infrastructure and enhance economic viability.
Moreover, Century Lithium is actively engaging in research and development to explore innovative methods that could attract funding and optimize both the design and economics of the Angel Island project.
About Angel Island Lithium Project
The Angel Island Lithium Project is situated in Esmeralda County, Nevada, and boasts one of the largest known sedimentary lithium deposits in the United States. Designed for on-site production of battery-grade lithium carbonate, the project aims to meet the urgent demand from the electric vehicle and energy storage markets.
A standout feature of this initiative is the company's patented process that combines hydrochloric acid leaching with direct lithium extraction, promising a viable method for producing high-quality lithium. Additionally, the integrated chlor-alkali process will yield sodium hydroxide as a co-product, intended to further reduce operational costs, minimize reliance on external reagents, and significantly alleviate environmental impacts.
Century Lithium is committed to advancing the Angel Island project through the various stages of the permitting process while focusing on innovative strategies to enhance project economics and environmental sustainability.
Trading on the TSX Venture Exchange (symbol: LCE), the OTCQX (symbol: CYDVF), and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (symbol: C1Z), Century Lithium continues to position itself as a leader in the lithium sector. For further information about the company and its projects, please visit
