Envision Energy Launches Energy Storage Project in France's Hauts-de-France Region

Envision Energy Expands Into French Energy Storage Sector

Envision Energy, a global leader in green technology, has made a significant entrance into the French energy storage market through a newly awarded contract for an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) project. This initiative features the deployment of a 120 MW / 240 MWh energy storage system, marking a critical collaboration with Kallista Energy, a prominent renewable energy producer in Europe. The project is set to be built in Saleux, located in the Hauts-de-France region of France.

Project Overview

The energy storage system proposed by Envision will incorporate advanced lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology, which has been recognized for its efficiency and safety in energy storage applications. Envision plans to deliver 44 direct current (DC) and 22 alternating current (AC) units, tailored for optimal performance within the local energy grid.

With construction scheduled to commence in June 2025, this project signifies Envision's first independent battery energy storage system contract in France. The completed system will provide crucial frequency regulation services to the French electrical grid through the Réseau de Transport d'Électricité (RTE), thereby enhancing grid stability amidst shifting energy demands.

A Lasting Commitment to Renewable Energy

As part of its long-term sustainability strategy, Envision Energy will offer a minimum of 14 years of maintenance services for the Saleux project, ensuring that the infrastructure remains operational and effective for the duration of its lifecycle. This strategic approach reflects Envision's dedication to reinforcing renewable energy solutions while ensuring that renewable sources can be reliably integrated into existing power structures.

Henry Peng, Senior Vice President and Head of Latin America and Europe at Envision Energy, emphasized France's significance as a strategic market for the company's expansion across Europe. He stated, "Our partnership with Kallista Energy marks a pivotal step as we introduce a comprehensive energy storage solution that is tailored to the Saleux project. Our advanced technology, coupled with our engineering and construction expertise, solidifies our commitment to boosting network stability and promoting the transition to renewable energy with scalable and reliable solutions."

Support from Industry Leaders

The essential LFP battery cells for this project will be supplied by AESC, a leading battery technology firm based in Japan, known for its cutting-edge production capabilities. With a gigafactory in Douai, Hauts-de-France, currently operational, AESC will play a vital role in ensuring that the energy storage solution meets high standards of quality and performance.

Frédéric Roche, President of the Kallista Energy Group, also expressed enthusiasm regarding the new project. He remarked, “The Saleux project adds a crucial component to the energy ecosystem needed for integrating more renewable sources into the grid while maintaining its reliability. We aim to dispel the myth that electricity cannot be stored to hasten the deployment of renewable energies and phase out fossil fuels.”

The Future of Energy Storage in Europe

The energy storage landscape in Europe is rapidly evolving, and Envision Energy is at the forefront of this transformation. With innovative Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) designed to enhance grid stability and optimize energy distribution, Envision is committed to facilitating the seamless integration of renewable energy into the grid. The company's technologies are built with a strong focus on proven design, safety, and long-term reliability, aimed at supporting a future with flexible and resilient clean energy systems.

As Envision Energy embarks on this new journey in the French energy market, the firm is poised to not only contribute to local energy solutions but also shape a greener future across the continent. The Saleux project stands as a testament to their operational capabilities and commitment to pioneering safe, efficient, and scalable energy storage solutions that respond to the current needs of the energy landscape.
