Embracing Diversity: NN Life Insurance's Commitment to LGBTQ+ Inclusion

In celebration of Coming Out Day and to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), NN Life Insurance Co., Ltd. is hosting an online webinar titled "LGBTQ+ Inclusion Training: Creating a Workplace for Everyone to Shine," in collaboration with various Dutch organizations. The event is scheduled for October 21, 2025, from 12 PM to 1 PM Japan time, and aims to further the understanding and implementation of LGBTQ+ inclusivity in the workplace.

Enhancing DEI Initiatives

NN Life Insurance recognizes the significance of DEI in fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment. Since its establishment, the company has made concerted efforts towards promoting diversity and supporting initiatives aimed at assisting Japan's small and medium-sized enterprises through its insurance services. Their commitment is underlined by the support of their Dutch parent company and key organizations such as the Dutch Embassy in Japan, the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce, and Randstad Co., Ltd.

The upcoming webinar marks the seventh installment in their ongoing DEI efforts, which began in 2023 and has already seen participation from over 280 attendees. In previous sessions, participants expressed a desire for actionable insights on how to effectively support LGBTQ+ colleagues, with many voicing uncertainty on how to take those next steps towards inclusivity.

What to Expect from the Webinar

The webinar will welcome distinguished speakers, including Shinya Arita, who is a board member of the certified NPO Nijiiro Diversity and has substantial experience in implementing LGBTQ+ initiatives. His guidance will provide attendees with foundational knowledge about LGBTQ+ matters and practical actions that can be taken to foster a more inclusive workplace environment.

In addition, attendees will hear an opening message from His Excellency Gilles Beschoor Plug, the Dutch Ambassador to Japan, and a closing message from Sachi Akimura, the head of the Employee Success Division at NN Life. The event will be hosted by Randstad Co., Ltd. and is intended for a Japanese-speaking audience.
