NITOBE Food Design Academy: Culinary Exploration Begins



On April 26, 2026, the NITOBE Food Design Academy will host its inaugural event, offering a unique culinary experience designed for high school students and adults alike. The renowned Chef Yoshimasa Nonga from Nihonbashi Yukari will be the special guest instructor, guiding participants through a 120-minute journey into the art and science of cooking. This event is organized in collaboration with the All Japan Food Society, showcasing a commitment to culinary education.

Event Highlights


Chef Nonga, a celebrated figure known for his television appearances and exceptional culinary skills, will introduce the theme, “Cold Start Cooking is Great!” This hands-on session will allow a maximum of 30 participants to learn efficient, visually appealing, and delicious cooking techniques using everyday ingredients. Attendees will gain insights into how to turn simple dishes into exquisite meals.

The event will be held at the NITOBE Kitchen, part of the NITOBE Cultural Academy, located just a 7-minute walk from Higashi-Koenji Station on the Marunouchi Line. Scheduled from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, the program will include:
1. Opening Remarks
2. Introduction of Chef Nonga
3. Demonstration followed by interactive cooking session

Participants will have the opportunity to prepare dishes such as Pork Soup and Teriyaki Chicken, allowing them to experience the essence of culinary creation firsthand. The focus will be on efficient cooking methods, including starting the heating process after adding ingredients, ensuring both safety and time efficiency.

About Chef Yoshimasa Nonga


Hailing from a prestigious lineage that has served the Imperial Household for three generations, Chef Nonga graduated from the Hattori Nutrition College and honed his skills under renowned owners. He gained recognition by winning the Japan Cup of Iron Chef in 2002 and has participated in prestigious culinary events, including experiences affirming Japan’s unique flavors at the Osaka Kansai Expo. Currently, Chef Nonga is engaged in various media appearances and projects internationally, contributing to the culinary world in impactful ways.

Registration Details


Interested individuals can sign up via the QR code or directly through Peatix, where tickets are priced at 5,000 yen for general admission and just 1,000 yen for high school and junior college students. Graduate students may also benefit from the discounted rate.

To ensure a pleasant experience, attendance is limited to the first 30 guests. Pre-registration is required, and health protocols will be in place, including temperature checks and hand sanitization. Those feeling unwell or exhibiting symptoms such as a fever above 37.5 degrees Celsius will be asked to refrain from attending.
