MUTEK.JP 2026: Exploring New Frontiers in Audio-Visual Art
The highly anticipated
MUTEK.JP 2026 festival is scheduled to take place from
November 20 to 23, 2026 at
MoN Takanawa, located in the newly developed
TAKANAWA GATEWAY CITY. This year marks the 11th edition of the festival, co-hosted with
East Japan Railway Company (JR East), promising to elevate the celebration of electronic music and digital creativity to new heights.
What to Expect
Centered around the theme of
“New Cycle!”, this festival will embark on a decade-long journey of creativity, beginning now. With an emphasis on artistry and experimentation, over
20 artists from around the globe will participate, showcasing their unique performances that promise to captivate audiences. Expect to see renowned figures such as British audio-visual artist
Max Cooper, who will present a 3D/AV Live performance featuring his new album, alongside a variety of other exciting acts.
Highlights of the Festival
Notable performances include:
- - Mouse on the Keys: Celebrating their 20th anniversary with a special multimedia show.
- - Ryoichi Kurokawa: Presenting cutting-edge audio-visual expressions.
- - Chilling Bambino: A new project from Polish musician Hania Rani.
- - Daito Manabe × ELEVENPLAY: Featuring an innovative dance installation.
Additionally, the festival will invite special guests from the techno scene for a unique audio-visual program on the closing night.
Engage and Learn
In addition to daily performances, on the last day, the
MUTEK.JP Pro Conference will take place during the daytime, bringing together creators and researchers from various backgrounds for talks and workshops focused on digital creativity and technology. Alongside this, the
ETERNAL Art Space exhibition will showcase digital and media art.
Evolving the Experience
This year's festival will also introduce a new seating arrangement besides traditional standing formats, enhancing the artistic experience of the audio-visual works being presented. Each day will merge music, sound, visuals, and spatial elements to craft an elevated festival experience.
