Artist's Statement
In her statement, Momoka reflects on the increasingly rare encounters with Buddhist culture in everyday life. She feels that while society flourishes, the spiritual practice of venerating Buddha statues has diminished. This shift offers a comforting perspective; it symbolizes a peaceful existence where people no longer rely solely on divine intervention for their well-being.
Momoka imagines that the Nioh statues, once ever-watchful protectors, find themselves with idle time and should enjoy a break after centuries of guarding the faithful. This inspired her to craft pieces that invite these figures to indulge in leisure and enjoyment, capturing their serene essence in a light-hearted manner.
"I hope everyone will feel relaxed and enjoy viewing these artworks alongside my Nioh statues at rest," Momoka expresses.
