Experience Timeless Beauty at TORINOKI FURNITURE's 'Age of Tree' Exhibition
A remarkable exhibition that presents the art of nature through furniture will soon take place in Tokyo. The renowned Kyoto-based brand, TORINOKI FURNITURE, is set to showcase their unique craftsmanship in a solo exhibition titled "Age of Tree," running from March 13 to March 15, 2026, at Colony Minami Aoyama.
TORINOKI FURNITURE specializes in creating stunning pieces from ancient trees, each with its own story. Among the masterpieces displayed are slabs crafted from trees that have stood the test of time for centuries, such as a 1500-year-old Yakushima cedar, a 900-year-old tree that has survived lightning strikes, and a 500-year-old black pine that grew within a shrine's grounds.
The pieces in this exhibition encapsulate the very essence of time and nature. Instead of obscuring the scars and traces left by the years, TORINOKI FURNITURE emphasizes them, turning each piece of wood into a canvas that tells a story. This distinct philosophy transforms each slab from mere furniture into a timeless entity that enriches any space.
Visitors will find various singular pieces made from unique woods like Yakusugi, black persimmon, and black pine, each showcasing the character and warmth that only nature can provide. The exhibition offers a rare opportunity for Tokyo residents to experience the tactile beauty and history embedded in each work created by the artisans at TORINOKI FURNITURE. Attendees are encouraged to touch and appreciate the furniture, getting a feel for the intricate time overlaps created by nature.
