Explore Global Peace Initiatives with Terra Renaissance!
From July 7 to August 4, 2025, the nonprofit organization Terra Renaissance will host an online series of meetups connecting overseas employees and participants passionate about peacebuilding. Led by the inspirational Masaya Onimaru, participants can choose which sessions to join from five distinct discussions that will cover pressing issues in various parts of the world, including Africa, Cambodia, Ukraine, and Hungary.
Understanding the Context
In 2025, as Japan commemorates 80 years since the end of World War II, the world is grappling with increased conflict and poverty. The current geopolitical climate reflects a worrying trend towards instability, with nations becoming more cautious, particularly as the U.S. begins to reduce its foreign aid. Amid this backdrop, we are confronted with critical questions: As individuals with histories shaped by conflict, how should we engage with the world? Can we guarantee a peaceful future for the next generation?
The online meetups organized by Terra Renaissance aim to answer such questions by bringing together overseas employees who have firsthand experience of these global dynamics. Each session will provide unique perspectives on the current changes they observe, delve into challenges not often covered in mainstream media, and discuss concrete actions being taken toward peace.
Event Details
Each session will kick off at 8:00 PM, allowing participants to join over dinner or a drink! Attendees can apply for multiple sessions and expect engaging dialogues featuring notable speakers like Shingo Ogawa, head of the overseas department, and Masaya Onimaru, the founder. Each session has a capacity of 50 participants, and tickets are priced at 1,000 yen for general admission and 500 yen for students, with options for discounted multi-session passes available.
