WHAT CAFE Exhibition vol.45: ON PAPER
Starting from April 29 to May 6, 2026, WHAT CAFE, an art gallery café operated by Warehouse TERRADA in Shinagawa, Tokyo, will proudly present the exhibition "ON PAPER: Art and Print Market." This event dives deep into the world of paper, a familiar medium for artists that serves as a source of inspiration for various creative expressions.
Explore Artistic Diversity
The exhibition will showcase around 500 works from 49 artists, facilitated through collaboration with ten domestic galleries committed to supporting emerging talents. Visitors will experience a rich selection of artworks including delicate prints, intricate drawings, and three-dimensional pieces crafted from traditional Japanese paper (washi). Whether you're an art aficionado or someone new to the world of art, this exhibition promises something for everyone, revealing the captivating potential of paper as a medium.
Highlights from the exhibition feature works like "On the Beach" by Mayumi Tsuzuki and "fictional image" by Saki Maruyama, and many more, demonstrating the incredible range of styles and interpretations.
Market Elements for First-time Buyers
In addition to viewing art, attendees will have the opportunity to purchase selected works and handcrafted items made by artists, making this event particularly suited for those considering their first art purchase. The integration of market elements allows for an interactive experience where art can be directly taken home, bridging the gap between creators and visitors.
The gallery will function daily from 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM, culminating in a final closing at 5:00 PM on the last day. Entry to the exhibition is free, ensuring accessibility for all.
