Ferrero Group Announces Leadership Changes to Strengthen Governance and Strategy
Ferrero Group Strengthens Leadership and Governance
The Ferrero Group, a leading name in the sweet-packaged food industry, has announced a significant reshaping of its leadership and governance framework. This strategic move follows extensive evaluations of the company's operational structure, culminating in a conclusive Board of Directors' resolution in February 2026.
Starting September 1, 2026, the company will see key positions reassigned to streamline its leadership. Giovanni Ferrero, the President of Ferrero International S.A., will oversee these transitions, ensuring that the company remains at the forefront of the sweet-packaged food sector.
Among the most notable changes is the appointment of Alessandro Nervegna as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ferrero Core. Nervegna, who previously served as Chief Strategy and Innovation Officer, brings nearly 30 years of experience in the company to his new role. His extensive background in product strategy and innovation across diverse markets positions him well to lead Ferrero's core categories that include confectionery, biscuits, bakery, and healthier options.
Giovanni Ferrero expressed his enthusiasm about this appointment, stating, “Alessandro's strategic insights and leadership skills are crucial to maintaining our growth trajectory and solidifying our leadership position within the industry.” Nervegna’s role will focus on spearheading the Group's expansion efforts while nurturing the values and culture that Ferrero embodies.
Meanwhile, the current CEO, Lapo Civiletti, known for his transformative impact on the company, will transition into the role of President of Ferrero Ice Cream and WK Kellogg Co., while retaining his position as Vice President at Ferrero International S.A. Civiletti's tenure at Ferrero spans back to 2004, during which his contributions have been pivotal to Ferrero's remarkable journey, earning him recognition as the first non-family member to command the CEO role.
“I am grateful for Lapo's contributions to Ferrero's success and the robust management structure he has built,” Giovanni Ferrero commented, highlighting how Civiletti played a vital role in the company’s ambition to double its size in under a decade.
Founded in 1946 in Alba, Italy, Ferrero Group continues to thrive under a family-owned business model, boasting over 50,000 employees and operations in more than 170 countries. The company is renowned for its beloved brands, including Nutella®, Kinder®, Ferrero Rocher®, and Tic Tac®, while also venturing into ice cream, breakfast cereals, and healthier food ranges.
The Ferrero Group's commitment to innovation and sustainability remains strong as they seek to enhance their offerings and expand into emerging markets. As they navigate this new leadership era, the Group emphasizes a vision rooted in quality, responsibility, and growth, all while holding on to the enduring legacy that defines Ferrero.
This latest transition marks a notable chapter for the Ferrero Group, one filled with opportunities as they prepare to tackle challenges in the competitive landscape of sweet-packaged foods, ensuring its iconic brands continue to delight consumers worldwide.
