Japan Golf Tour Organization Launches New Professional Tour Entity to Boost Men's Golf Growth

Japan Professional Golf Tour: The Future of Men's Golf in Japan

On April 8, 2026, the Japan Golf Tour Organization (JGTO) made a significant announcement concerning the future of men's professional golf in the country. The newly established entity, Japan Professional Golf Tour Co., Ltd. (referred to as J-Tour), has been designed to operate under a corporate structure that enables agile investment strategies and innovative marketing initiatives, transforming the landscape of professional golf in Japan.

Effective from March 17, 2026, J-Tour will commence its operations aimed at driving growth while closely partnering with Nippon Sangyo Suishin Kiko Group (NSSK). This collaboration will leverage NSSK's expertise in investment and management, ensuring that the Japan men's professional golf tours are not only sustainable but also resilient in today’s competitive market.

This restructured approach delineates clear roles for both JGTO and J-Tour. The JGTO will retain its focus on player and competition management, while J-Tour will concentrate on tour operations, planning, and business development. This division promises to enhance operational efficiency, allowing each organization to focus on its strengths — JGTO on competitive integrity and regulatory aspects, and J-Tour on driving growth and innovation.

One of J-Tour’s primary objectives is to maximize fan engagement through concerted strategies that will reshape the on-site experience and the overall interaction of fans with the sport. J-Tour will focus on three pillars:

1. Enhancing the spectator experience: J-Tour plans to revolutionize the on-site experience by introducing better hospitality offerings and increasing viewing opportunities through diverse broadcasting channels.

2. Media content innovation: A centralized media platform is set to be developed to distribute a mix of short-form and long-form content, accessible via platforms like YouTube and various social media outlets, ensuring a wider reach and engagement.

3. Supporting players and teams: Improved welfare programs aimed at minimizing participation costs and providing career development support will allow athletes to concentrate on their performance without financial distractions.

Yutaka Morohoshi, Chairman of JGTO, highlighted the strategic importance of this new structure, expressing confidence that it will propel the growth of men's professional golf in Japan. He underscored the commitment to enhancing competition quality and player development, aiming for a harmonious relationship with public and private stakeholders to maximize the societal value of golf.

Meanwhile, Jun Tsusaka, CEO of NSSK, emphasized the potential of Japanese men's professional golf to gain recognition on the global stage. NSSK is dedicated to robust governance and strategic involvement in supporting J-Tour’s development, ultimately creating a trustworthy tour structure and a sustainable economic ecosystem for all participants involved.

The Japan Golf Tour Organization, founded in February 1999, takes charge of organizing and overseeing domestic professional tournaments while promoting player development and the richness of the sport. As the J-Tour embarks on this transformative journey, the collaboration between JGTO and NSSK is anticipated to yield significant advancements in the realm of golf in Japan, catering to an evolving market and an increasingly engaged fanbase.

As the world watches, Japan’s commitment to elevating its professional golf scene through innovative practices and strategic partnerships will not only enhance the sport domestically but potentially position it to compete on an international platform.
