On August 13, 2025, the 34th Yanai Kingyo Chouchin Festival will transform into a mesmerizing spectacle with a special drone show featuring 300 drones. This event, organized by Redcliff Inc. and A-commerce Inc., will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the city merger of Yanai, highlighting local culture and tradition.

A Brief History of the Festival

The Yanai Kingyo Chouchin Festival began as an invitation to those returning home for the Obon holidays, using traditional handmade lanterns to welcome them. This year marks the festival's 34th edition, with approximately 2,500 goldfish lanterns illuminating the venue, creating an enchanting atmosphere that is both nostalgic and beautiful.

The Spectacular Drone Show

In a unique twist to this year’s festivities, the finale will feature a breathtaking 15-minute drone show, starting at 20:45. Unlike traditional fireworks, the drone display will create stunning visuals in the sky, depicting symbols of Yanai such as the iconic goldfish lanterns and the traditional Yanai stripes, as well as summer-themed animations. One particularly impressive feature will be the giant goldfish lantern, measuring about 44 meters by 60 meters, which will float in the night sky, captivating the audience with its scale and beauty.
